Florida State Vs. Alabama: Crimson Tide, Seminoles To Open 2017 College Football Season

Florida State vs. Alabama will open the 2017 college football season. The Florida State Seminoles and Alabama Crimson Tide will meet at a neutral site to open the 2017 NCAA campaign in a game that is going to create a lot of buzz for college football. The winner of this game will surely get an early start at nabbing a No. 1 ranking for that season. A report from NBC Sports on Saturday morning (June 20) confirms that the schools have agreed to this commitment.

Getting to watch a Florida State vs. Alabama game will be a huge treat for college football fans. It’s not often that the best team in the ACC agrees to go up against one of the best teams in the SEC, especially when the Seminoles and Crimson Tide have such extensive resumes. It’s not a stretch to suggest that the winner of this game will be in the pole position when it comes to winning the college football championship for 2017. Talk about a must-see game for television. The neutral location will be the new stadium for the Atlanta Falcons.

The two schools aren’t playing this game for nothing, as it is reported that the schools will receive between $4 million and $5 million for participation. While there have certainly been some exciting games to kickoff the college football season recently, nothing stands up to the allure that this one is set to provide. As previously reported on the Inquisitr, both the Alabama Crimson Tide (No. 1 seed) and the Florida State Seminoles (No. 3 seed) made it into the first college football playoff in 2014. The Ohio State Buckeyes ended up winning the championship, but having two of the top schools schedule a game together is pretty unexpected.

The Alabama Crimson Tide are expected to be highly ranked again in the 2015 NCAA college football season. The school opens its regular season against another really tough opponent, meeting the Wisconsin Badgers of the Big 10 Conference on September 5. It shapes up to be a great game and a huge resume builder for the winning team. The Florida State Seminoles open against the Texas State Bobcats, a school that isn’t going to gain the team much if they win. The big non-conference game for FSU comes on November 28 against the Florida Gators.

Even though the Florida State vs. Alabama game is almost three years away, it is going to create a lot of positive buzz for college football. This is something that NCAA fans have wanted to see for a while, with top schools scheduling tough opponents to prove they belong in the discussion for postseason playoffs.
