Iggy Azalea Admits Some Days She Just Wants To Crawl Into A Cave And Hide

Iggy Azalea may be famous in the U.S., but when she recently got the chance to be interviewed by Australian morning show Today, she seemed excited to talk about her home country, Australia.

Born Amethyst Amelia Kelly in Sydney, Australia, Iggy Azalea grew up in Mullumbimby, a small town in the Northern Rivers region of New South Wales. She then moved to the U.S. at the age of 16. The Aussie singer has come a long way from the rural township she grew up in, having become a singing sensation in the U.S. and recently becoming engaged to LA Lakers player, Nick Young, to which Today interviewer Richard Wilkins congratulated her and talk turned to Nick’s proposal to Iggy Azalea and their subsequent wedding.

It seems Iggy Azalea is aiming for a July or August wedding in 2016. She is planning on a wedding dress that is “very glamorous and big.” Today co-host David Campbell was later concerned “glamorous and big” really meant she was going “the full meringue,” an affectionate term that likened her dress to something you might have seen a bride wear in the 80s.

While the potential for the pair to wed in Australia is a possibility, it isn’t likely as Iggy Azalea explained her family is smaller than Nick Young’s, so it will be easier to fly all her family to the U.S. rather than the other way around. She didn’t rule out an Australian honeymoon though.

Iggy is also planning to bring Nick to Australia later this year when she returns for the Bonds 100 celebration she is participating in. Bonds is an iconic Australian label that designed comfortable everyday wear for men, women, and children. Iggy Azalea was honored to be participating, having followed in the footsteps of the likes of Miranda Kerr. Wilkins was eager to discuss how Iggy Azalea exudes so much confidence during the Bonds 100 promotion video.

“I don’t know, some days I think just want to crawl in my cave and I don’t feel confident at all [laughs] and other days I feel great. I think it’s like that for all human beings not just young women and I think, um, I think maybe feeling confident or 100% every day, it’s something to aspire to but I don’t know if it’s humanly possible for anybody. And I think it’s just having that kind of honest moment with yourself and other people and almost admitting and embracing your flaws or the things about you that you sometimes feel bad about can empower yourself.”

Iggy Azalea loved doing the Bonds shoot because it was super cheeky, fun, and sporty. But then moved on to discuss just how hard she had to work to get from Mullumbimby to the U.S. and the success it bought.

Iggy Azalea is currently working on her second album and planning to take more risks with it than she did with the first album. She is looking forward to returning to her home country as she hasn’t been back since she opened thee Beyoncé tour back in 2013. Iggy even hinted she might perform a show or two while back in Australia. Recently, Iggy Azalea cancelled up to six months worth of work, sparking pregnancy rumors.
