Samsung Galaxy S6 Active Available At AT&T: How Does It Compare To Galaxy S6, iPhone 6?

The Samsung Galaxy S6 Active is finally available at AT&T. Samsung has been working with the mobile provider for years to create a rugged version of their Galaxy S phones. Users have been wanting to get their hands on this new phone since it’s more rugged and durable than its competitors. Durability has become an important feature for consumers as they shop around for smartphones.

The Samsung Galaxy S6 Active is the “more rugged” sibling of the Galaxy S6 flagship phone. It includes all of the flagship’s specs such as the same cameras, display, RAM, and processor. Butthe Galaxy S6 Active includes a better performing battery and is waterproof.

Tim Baxter explained some of the phone’s specs in the official press release.

“With the Galaxy S6 active, we’re delivering consumers with high durability coupled with the powerful performance of Samsung’s latest flagship smartphone. The result is a smartphone that brings ruggedized capabilities and water resistance coupled with the camera, battery and design features that empower our consumers and business users to do more.”

It’s already passed several drop tests, underwater stress tests, and a “hydrophobic waterproof test on screen.” The Galaxy S6 Active is perfect for those who live an active lifestyle or a clumsy lifestyle. This smartphone can survive through being dropped from 12 feet on the tile floor or from dropping into the pool.

So how does the Samsung Galaxy S6 Active compare to both the Galaxy S6 and the iPhone 6?

Users will want the Galaxy S6 Active since it has a massive battery, it’s waterproof and shockproof, it doesn’t heat up, and it has an extra shortcut button. On the other hand, users may prefer to have the Samsung Galaxy S6 since it’s more attractive, it’s made of glass and metal, it has a fingerprint scanner, it has faster updates, and it comes in three options of storage and with Micro SD slot for expansion. The Samsung Galaxy S6 is also relatively less expensive than the S6 Active, priced at $684.99 and $694.99, according to SplashGear.

How does the Samsung Galaxy S6 Active stack up against Apple’s iPhone 6? It still has an edge on Apple since its sturdier and has a bettery battery life. It’s been said that it can weather through “dust, water, shock and humid temperatures.” How else does it compare?

  • The iPhone 6 is also more attractive than the Galaxy S6 Active
  • Samsung has a Super AMOLED displays, while Apple uses an IPS LCD.
  • The Galaxy S6 Active has a 5 megapixel front camera while the iPhone 6 uses the 1.2 megapixel camera.
  • The Galaxy S6, however, does not have SD cards and storage options like the iPhone 6.

The iPhone 6 is more for “premium” users while the Galaxy S6 Active is better for rough users and active people. The Samsung Galaxy S6 Active has impressive features when compared to the Galaxy S6 and the iPhone 6. However, some users may want to stick to phones they have if they’re not clumsy or active. It all depends on what specs you want and how you plan to use your smartphone.
