[Left and Right] This Election Is President Obama’s To Lose

With Rick Santorum abandoning his quest for the Republican nomination for President and Newt Gingrich flat broke, Mitt Romney is going to be the Republican Nominee. This should be cause for celebration among the President’s campaign staff. Although President Obama probably secretly wanted to go up against Santorum and be able to paint the Republican Party as extreme, right wing, loony, knuckle dragging troglodytes, Mitt Romney is certainly a fantastic consolation prize.

Mitt Romney might just be the most out of touch candidate for President since wind surfin John Kerry took to his surf board and tried to unseat George W. Bush. Most people were pretty sure that all a candidate had to do to secure a win over Bush was to breath and be able to pronounce their own name without drooling on themselves. Nominating Kerry proved that you need to at least nominate someone who can relate to the everyday voter.

That was the Democrats turn to step in the electoral dog poo and this time it is the Republicans. The Democrats chose Kerry because he was moderate, hated Bush and was perceived (how I don’t know) as the most “electable” candidate. Mitt Romney is moderate, hates President Obama and is perceived by Republicans as the most “electable” candidate. Republicans be warned, he is not “electable”!

The word moderate used to mean that a candidate held views which could be seen as representing the middle of American society. Now the word moderate is synonymous with the word flip-flopper (also a term that they used to crucify Kerry). Mitt Romney, Like Kerry before him will say and do anything to get elected President. He will change his views to suit whatever poll is popular at the moment and he will do it with a smile telling the people how he stands with them.

But Alas, Mitt Romney is not moderate. Mitt Romney is a spoiled, entitled, uber rich 1 percenter who actually believes that in order for America to be free the rich must be allowed to keep all of their money, retain virtually all the power and be exempt from every law that the middle class is subjected to.

To look at Romney’s arrogance and complete disconnect from the rest of America one just needs to look at his new California Super Mansion. Romney faced a perception problem even from Republicans for being too wealthy and making his money by preying on weak companies and exploiting them. Even Republicans thought Romney might have issues and if they were willing to see his wealth as a problem, Class Warfare Happy Obama will certainly be able to make Romney look like he want wants to start sending American children to die in The Hunger Games.

Romney’s answer? to build a massive mansion with elevators installed for his cars. Completely oblivious to the world around him.

I personally think Obama’s biggest problem in this election might just be that he thinks Romney makes it too easy. That he takes making Romney look like the heartless capitalist that he is as a game and goes so overboard he starts to look like a bully. That would truly be sad to let Romney win on a sympathy vote. Americans should not feel sympathy for Mitt Romney.

Obama is in a unique position to have Romney beat on flair, personality and substance. Obama can take th high road on almost everything because the people are with him more than Romney on almost every issue. They also generally like Obama and generally dislike Romney.

This is his election to lose, let’s see if he does.
