‘Masters Of Sex’ Season 3 Spoilers: Masters And Johnson Hit The Road, Plus Allison Janney And Beau Bridges Return

Masters of Sex is gearing up for its Season 3 premiere that will feature Bill Masters (Michael Sheen) and Virginia Johnson (Lizzy Caplan) as they start their sexual revolution in 1966. The new season will focus on the pair as they go on the road to promote their new book.

In light of the coming season, Showtime has released an official poster and trailer for the new season. Both the poster and trailer hint at new developments and twists to come in the new season.

The poster, which features Dr. Masters lying on top of a Twister game alongside Libby (Caitlin Fitzgerald) and Johnson, indicates that Masters will be adding someone new to his bedroom. The trailer backs this up, as Johnson and Libby are shown in bed together, with Libby telling Johnson, “I’ve always wondered what it felt like — with you.”

With Libby being featured so prominently in the poster and trailer, this marks the first time the character will play a major role in the series. In the past seasons of Masters of Sex, Libby has taken a back seat to Masters and Johnson’s extensive research, but now it appears as though that dynamic will change.

In addition to the new shakeup between the three main characters, the trailer also offered a first look at Daniel Logan, who is being played by Josh Charles. Charles is known for his role on The Good Wife. Variety recently reported that Logan will be using his skills as a salesman to take advantage of Masters and Johnson’s work to sell aphrodisiacs.

Fans will also be pleased to learn that some old faces will be returning to the show this season. Both Allison Janney and Beau Bridges will be back as Margaret and Barton Skully. The couple was featured back in Season 1 of the show but disappeared early in the second season. In past seasons, Barton had trouble dealing with trying to hide his homosexuality while Margaret was busy exploring her own sex life through an affair. Little is known as to where the show will pick up their storylines in Season 3.

The new season will also feature a number of guest stars, including Tate Donovan, who will be playing a scientist, Maggie Grace, who is set to appear as a gynecologist, and Virginia’s parents, played by Frances Fisher and Michael O’Keefe. Additionally, Isabelle Fuhrman will be playing Virginia’s teen daughter, Tessa.

Season 3 of Masters of Sex is set to air July 12 on Showtime.
