Shawn Hatosy Has Been Cast in AMC’s ‘Fear The Walking Dead’

AMC‘s Fear The Walking Dead gets a new character announcement with Shawn Hatosy joining the cast of the Walking Dead spinoff series set in LA.

According to Deadline, Shawn Hatosy will play an, as yet, unnamed character who is “well-intentioned but out of his element military man with a soulful disposition.” Comic Book Resources lists Shawn Hatosy’s previous credits as including Southland, Alpha Dogs, Anywhere But Here and The Faculty. Shawn Hatosy joins an ever expanding Fear The Walking Dead cast list that includes Cliff Curtis, Kim Dickens, Frank Dillane, Mercedes Mason, Alycia Debnam Carey, Lorenzo James Henrie, Elizabeth Rodriguez, Rubén Blades and Patricia Reyes Spíndola, and, most recently, Sandrine Holt.

Walking Dead fans will get a shortened six episode Season 1 of Fear The Walking Dead. With AMC already confirming a Season 2 which will run like a normal season of The Walking Dead; 16 episodes broken up into two mini-seasons comprising of eight episodes each. As yet we do not have a definitive starting date for AMC‘s Fear The Walking Dead but Robert Kirkman has confirmed the new series will start sometime in August.

Fear the Walking Dead will tell a story running somewhat parallel to the well known Walking Dead story, but it will start when the outbreak does. Creator Robert Kirkman is anticipating Fear The Walking Dead will be a standalone series but will also enhance the viewers understanding of the Walking Dead universe for those who already watch The Walking Dead. It is anticipated that walker characteristics will vary greatly at the start of the outbreak, with the zombies more human like and less like the rotting, shambling walkers we currently know in The Walking Dead. The climate difference between Atlanta and LA will also likely influence the situations in Fear The Walking Dead as well. While Robert Kirkman has said their will be no crossover between the two shows in Season 1, it is likely there will be a crossover further on down the track. There have also been suggestions that fans may see some characters or references to characters previously on The Walking Dead.

Fans can get a sneak peek of the cast of Fear The Walking Dead by attending the San Diego Comic Con next month. AMC will include two panels, one of the new Fear The Walking Dead cast as well as their usual Walking Dead panel. It is anticipated an extended teaser video and a complete release date will be announced during Comic Con.
