‘Pitch Perfect 3’ Gets Release Date Confirmation

Universal has now confirmed a release date for Pitch Perfect 3, just hours after Anna Kendrick shared the strong possibility that the third installment of the franchise was coming. The studio also confirmed that Kendrick will reprise her role as Beca, with Rebel Wilson returning as Fat Amy. There is still the possibility of Elizabeth Banks reprising her role after a successful role in Pitch Perfect 2.

Entertainment Weekly has confirmed that the premiere of the third installment of the a capella movies will be July 21, 2017. It did not take long for Kendrick to share the news with her fans on Instagram as soon as she was able to, but she could only share that there would be a third installment. At the time, the release date had not been shared. Wilson quickly took to Twitter to share the news with her own followers, this time sharing the confirmed release date.

Banks was extremely excited to share the news about Pitch Perfect 3, even though she may not appear in the movie. The actress is reportedly looking out for other projects, with one of those being the adaptation of Victoria Aveyard’s Red Queen, according to the Master Herald.

Pitch Perfect 2 has been extremely successful for Universal Studios, earning more than $170 million since its release on May 15, this year. That was in the U.S. box office alone. It was unclear whether Kendrick would return for the trilogy at first, as she wanted to see how successful the second one would be. It is very common for sequels to perform poorly, even when the first movie has been a huge success. It turns out that it was successful enough, and she is excited about the idea of a third installment.

“I’m not one to count my chickens, so I just want to see how this one does and find out if there’s an appetite for that before I even think about it. I’ll drive myself crazy. I didn’t know if they were just going to do a sloppy seconds version of it, and that was the thing that made me nervous. When I found out it was really going forward and it was going to be a real movie and everybody was coming back—there was no way I was going to miss out on that.”

The full casting still needs to be confirmed, but it sounds like the writers are already working on a storyline. It sounds like Beca will be in her final year, and will decide that it is time to quit as the co-leader of the group. The movie is possibly going to be about handing the position to another member of the group, while they battle some sort of championship. There are many questioning what they could possibly include after the group took over the World Championships in the second Pitch Perfect movie.

Banks could not help shed any light in a recent MTV interview. She believes that it will depend on the fans reactions’ to ideas, and Pitch Perfect 3 will be more organic.
