MTV Star Leah Messer’s ‘Dark, Traumatic’ Childhood Lead To Rehab Stint [Report]

MTV star Leah Messer reportedly went through a “dark” and “traumatic” childhood. The Teen Mom 2 star, who is currently in rehab addressing issues with depression and stress, has been secretly dealing with emotional issues that even those close to her are unaware of.

On June 16, a source revealed the following to Radar Online.

“She had a very rough time growing up. Many people, even her close friends, don’t know that she dealt with a lot of pain and suffering when she was a very young girl.”

The MTV star’s alleged inability to cope with the dark secrets of her past is what reportedly led to her said addition to prescription painkillers. Although Messer is reportedly dealing with mental issues in rehab, not drug addiction, Radar Online‘s source claimed her stint was also meant to help her address her past issues in a healthy manner.

“Of course she is getting help for her drug problem, but she is also learning to cope with her past.”

The source went on to claim the MTV star has often been seen “sobbing in a state of panic” for seemingly no reason.

On Teen Mom 2, Messer admitted to suffering from anxiety, and was later prescribed medication, which made her appear out of it. In one scene, she was seen on the phone with her daughter’s doctor, slurring her words.

“She was far more emotionally disturbed and her addiction was already serious at that point. No one knew what to do.”

As the Inquisitr previously reported, the MTV star will reportedly face a custody battle with her first ex-husband, Corey Simms, once she returns home from rehab later this month. Earlier this week, a source told Radar Online that Simms was planning to resume his fight for full custody of his and Messer’s 5-year-old twins, Ali and Aleeah.

“With her drug and emotional issues, Corey doesn’t think [Leah Messer] is in any shape to be a good mother right now. He will stop at nothing to make sure his girls are in safe hands.”

As for the custody of the MTV star’s youngest daughter, 2-year-old Adalynn, the source claimed her second ex-husband, Jeremy Calvert, was planning to allow her to retain custody.

“When [Leah Messer] comes home, they will share joint custody of Addie. Jeremy doesn’t want to take his daughter away from her mom.”
