Day Care Shooting Leaves Three Dead In Minnesota

Three people were killed by gunfire this morning at an in-home day care center in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota.

Police were not able to make an arrest at the scene and are now looking for a black male in his mid-twenties wearing blue jeans and a navy blue sweatshirt. KTSP.com reports that the suspect was last seen riding a BMX bike.

USA Today reports that the day care center was licensed for up to 12 children. Delois Brown, who runs the day care, was working under a licence that was set to expire in February last year.

Inspector Todd Milburn said that the shooting occurred around 6:30 this morning but did not say if any children were present at the time. According to Kare11, the three victims are being described as adults. The ages of the victims have not been released.

A nearby college, Hennepin County Technical College, is currently locked down. School spokesperson Annette Roth said that students who were already on campus were safe inside a locked building. Roth also said that emails and text messages were sent to students telling them not to come to campus.

Sky 11 News is currently helping officials with a helicopter search as several State Patrol helicopters are currently dealing with a wildfire in northern Minnesota.
