Susan Olsen: ‘Brady Bunch’ Secrets Shared By Cindy Brady Include Romance, Drugs, Feuds, Gay Dad [Video]

Susan Olsen knows all the Brady Bunch family secrets. Known for her role as Cindy Brady, Susan dished on topics ranging from kissing at a surprisingly young age to her alleged drug dealer career after the Brady Bunch show ended, reported People.

Recalling backstage romances during the filming of the popular situation comedy, Susan admitted that the most frequently asked questions concerned the hook-ups. And Olsen revealed that almost every member of the Brady Bunch family secretly dated or at least got cuddly during the 1969 to 1974 years of the show.

Susan links those romantic secrets to the fact that they spent so much time on set.

“We led a sheltered life for part of the year, so if there was anybody to get a crush on or try to date, it would be our counterparts.”

As for Olsen herself? She and Mike Lookinland, who played Bobby Brady, practiced the art of kissing in the family’s doghouse. They were only 9 years old.

In addition, Susan revealed that Eve Plumb, who played Jan Brady, and Maureen McCormick, who was Marcia Brady, fought. They still are feuding, said Olsen of her Brady Bunch sisters.

“I think it’s kind of petty,”scoffed Susan. “From day one with these two I have always been in the middle, and now it’s at the point where there isn’t even a desire to communicate through me.”

As for reports that the cast all got rich off the Brady Bunch? Salary secrets also are getting revealed by Susan, and her revelations will disappoint those who envisioned great wealth.

“We even had to pay for our own parking in the first season. They wouldn’t let us drive onto the lot. We earn very, very little.”

However, Susan did make money in her post-Brady Bunch career growing marijuana. Olsen blamed her husband for the drug-dealing problems.

“I was really a marijuana grower,” she said. “My husband at the time and I grew it hydroponically.”

But Susan quickly added that she didn’t smoke it. She just grew it.

“I’ve always been into ‘gardening,’ and it’s such a complicated, wonderful, fascinating plant,” said Cindy Brady.

Amid the humor, however, the Brady Bunch secrets included heartbreak, Susan told News Australia.

Robert Reed, who played the father on the show, felt forced to hide the fact that he was gay.

“He never meant for us to know. He never ever had any intentions of coming out of the closet and I think he might have been mortified to know that we knew,” said Olsen.

And Susan revealed that the entire cast knew but protected Reed. When he did not attend Maureen’s wedding, McCormick mourned his decision to avoid the public ceremony.

“We were all sitting around talking and Bob had not shown up, and Maureen said, ‘I wish he’d felt comfortable enough to bring a female or male date or just to be here,” recalled Olsen of her TV dad.

As the Inquisitr reported, Caitlyn Jenner’s plastic surgeon recently praised her for providing the world with new insights about what it means to be a member of the LGBT community.

And like the Brady Bunch secrets about Robert Reed, Caitlyn revealed how hard it was to keep her own.

“This is a cultural milestone for transgender patients. This enables other transgender patients to be better accepted and enables society to better understand what they go through. She has just been a tremendous asset for the transgender community, building better understanding of what transgender people go through psychologically, the difficulty of living with this secret – one of the ultimate secrets you can keep.”
