Shark Attack: Two Teenagers Seriously Injured In Separate Shark Attacks In North Carolina

Just three days after the Inquisitr reported about a shark attack in North Carolina where a 13-year-old teenager was injured, we have more grave news coming in from the state. According to a report by USA Today, two teenagers have been seriously injured in separate shark attacks reported from Oak Island on Sunday.

The news of the two teenagers, a girl and a boy being attacked by sharks has been confirmed by Oak Island Mayor Betty Wallace. Both the incidents reportedly happened on Sunday evening, reports say. The identities of the two victims have not been revealed.

In the first incident, the girl was injured in the shark attack and lost part of her arm. The girl was reportedly on a visit to Oak Island with her family and was not a local, reports WECT. The girl was also bitten on her legs and could also lose part of her left leg. The first emergency call reporting about the shark attack was made to Brunswick County Dispatchers at around 4:12 p.m. on Sunday evening, and emergency services quickly reached the spot.

The incident happened near the Ocean Crest Motel where several agencies joined in the efforts to rescue the teenager. These included members of the Oak Island Police and Fire, St. James Fire, Brunswick EMS, and the Air Link Helicopter.

Just an hour after the first incident, a second shark attack was reported from the same area. The victim this time was a 16-year-old boy. The second shark attack happened at around 5:30 p.m in which the teenager reportedly lost an arm. The injured teenager was quickly airlifted to the New Hanover Regional Medical Center where his condition remains unknown.

Following the two incidents of shark attacks, a red flag has been raised in the area and around most of the Brunswick County beaches. People have been told to stay off the waters. Oak Island town manager has sent down an ATV to make sure everyone is out of water. A helicopter too has been sent out to patrol the coast and to warn people about the presence of sharks near the beaches.

At this time, there is no confirmation whether a single shark was behind both the attacks. The type of shark that attacked also remains a mystery.

Shark attacks have been reported from North Carolina for a long time. Last year, too, a teenager was seriously injured in a shark attack at Sunset Beach in North Carolina.
