Manchester United Close In On Nicolas Otamendi And Gareth Bale

Manchester United are making drastic moves in the summer transfer market as they look to capture the Argentine center back Nicolás Otamendi and Welsh winger Gareth Bale. The signing of the pair would signal a return to Manchester United’s spending trend of last summer. The Red Devils are keen to consolidate their place within the top four with hopes of challenging for the Premier League title.

According to reports in Spain, Manchester United have placed a bid for Otamendi who is a key figure in the Valencia squad and currently representing the Argentine squad at the 2015 Copa America tournament. The two clubs are yet to agree a fee for the center back; however, Manchester United are confident that they can agree terms by the end of the week.

It is rumored that Manchester United are willing to offer £30 million for the Argentine center back and that Valencia are willing to allow a deal around that region in order to remain competitive in the upcoming Spanish League campaign and UEFA Champions League.

Three Key Facts On Nicolas Otamendi

Otamendi scored his first professional goal against Arsenal de Sarandi in a 3-1 in 2009. A good omen for Manchester United fans.

Otamendi was the top goalscorers amongst La Liga defenders last season, finishing ahead of former Manchester United defender Gerard Pique with six goals — five of which were scored with his head.

Otamendi was called up to represent Argentina after just 11 professional games in his emerging career.

With the rumored transfer move of Spanish goalkeepers David De Gea, Manchester United are keen to obtain the upper hand on Real Madrid by applying pressure on the Spanish giants. Manchester United, not strapped for cash, are currently negotiating a swap deal that would see De Gea head to his hometown with Gareth Bale making a return to England.

The deal is currently one of the many options on the table. Gareth Bale is currently contemplating a move away from Real Madrid, with Manchester United his most likely destination should a move concur. It is a move that is welcomed by many Manchester United fans.
