The Columbus Police Department is investigating a gruesome shooting that reportedly took place on the morning of Saturday, June 13. According to USA Today, police arrived to find five shooting victims.
It has been reported that a police dispatcher confirmed that four of the five injured — two men and two women — were pronounced dead at the scene. A 16-year-old injured girl was also found outside of the home. However, the Huffington Post reports that the girl did not appear to be severely injured. She was transported to the Ohio Health Grant Medical Center to be treated for “non-life-threatening” injuries and will be interviewed by investigators soon.
At this point, a lot of the details are still relatively vague. Although a neighbor reportedly witnessed a man and woman fleeing from the home around 5:30 a.m., the speculation has yet to be confirmed. Investigators also have not established a possible motive for the horrific shooting. The four bodies have been transported to the Franklin County Coroner’s Office so autopsies can be performed to confirm their identities. However, Det. Robert Connor has stated that the victims’ names will not be released yet.
Sgt. David Sicilian of the Columbus Police Department’s Homicide Squad released a statement to the Columbus Dispatch briefly detailing investigative findings at the gruesome murder scene they faced upon arrival at the home.
“It’s littered with four bodies and it’s a pretty ugly scene inside,” Sicilian said. “We obviously have a homicidal suspect out here who’s not afraid to kill somebody. We need to quickly find out who that is or the persons responsible for this,” Sicilian said.
No further details have been released about the case. The Columbus Police Department does not have another news conference scheduled as of yet. However, homicide detectives are urging anyone with information to contact the police department at (614) 645-4730 or Crimestoppers at (614) 645-TIPS. The alleged homicidal suspect is still reportedly at large.
