An Australian photographed a white triangular UFO in the clouds over Oakey near Toowoomba in the Darling Downs region of Queensland at about 6:30 a.m. Friday.
Greg Young, who works with an Australian firm FieldQuip, was looking through photos of the sunrise he just snapped with his phone camera when he zoomed in on one of the photos and noticed the strange triangular object in the clouds.
He went back outside, looked up, and saw a triangular UFO flying across the sky concealed partially in the clouds but followed by a blue trail that was clearly visible.
"It was all a bit weird because a few moments earlier me and my co-worker saw some bright flashing lights from the East and we couldn't work out what they were. Then we saw this thing and it just made for a really odd morning. I don't believe in aliens or anything like that but it definitely looked like something."
According to the Chronicle, Young showed the photo to his boss Darren Mauger, who expressed amazement despite admitting he does not believe in aliens or UFOs.
"Greg came in to show me the photo and by the time I went back outside it was gone. He said it wasn't travelling very fast and was flying silently but it had disappeared within a minute."
Scott Waring, editor of UFO Sightings Daily, believes the UFO was of extraterrestrial origin. He writes that it was partially "cloaked," that is, attempting to hide its presence by imitating the color and appearance of the clouds above. According to Waring, "cloaking" explains why Young did not notice the UFO until he zoomed in on the photo.
"UFOs often try to disguise themselves as clouds, because seeing a triangle cloud move as fast or faster than a fighter jet is less startling than seeing a metallic craft with windows above you. It lowers the fright levels."
But speaking from his experience as a UFO hunter, Waring observes that while some alien species go out of their way to avoid being detected by humans, some species don't bother to hide their presence.
"Some just don't [care to avoid being seen by humans] and will fly uncloaked and close up taking their sweet time doing whatever they are doing. It differs from species to species. 56 space faring species on and near Earth known to exist says USAF to employees at Area S4. That's only a few of them."
Readers unfamiliar with the alien lore of the online UFO community will be surprised to learn from Waring that there are as many as 56 "spacefaring" species that have visited the Earth. The study of alien races and species is an intriguing field of alien and UFO studies.
