Ed Sheeran Believes He Knows What The Song Of The Summer Will Be

There’s been much talk lately about which song will be the song of the summer. Will it be something by Ed Sheeran? Perhaps the ever-popular Taylor Swift? Jason Derulo, maybe?

Ed Sheeran is ready to put the debate to bed. In fact, Sheeran is certain he knows what the song of the summer will be.

Sheeran is pretty certain that “Shut Up and Dance” by Walk the Moon will steal the so-called “Song of the Summer” title. At least that’s what Ed Sheeran said when talking to Vulture at the American Institute of Stuttering Gala at the Lighthouse at Chelsea Piers.

“I’m just hearing that everywhere. It just makes everyone happy whenever they hear it. I really like that song.”

According to Vulture, Sheeran’s songs are too slow to be considered summer jams in 2015, but the news outlet said Sheeran is OK with that, especially since he had one of the most popular songs of last summer with “Sing.” In May of 2014, USA Today reported that Sheeran’s “Sing” was the No. 1 song to memorize for the summer. The song spent seven weeks on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and topped out at No. 13.

Ed Sheeran also mentioned another song he’d like to see do well this summer: “Trap Queen” by Fetty Wap, he told Vulture.

“It’s amazing that ‘Trap Queen’ is such a massive hit. I love that.”

Sheeran is a great lover of hip-hop music and makes it known often that he supports the genre. In fact, Ed Sheeran recently covered “Trap Queen” on a Fallon episode.

Media outlets have noted that Sheeran did not mention “Bad Blood” by Taylor Swift, which is surprising, considering the close friendship that Sheeran and Swift seem to have developed recently.

Currently, “See You Again” by Wiz Khalifa and Charlie Puth sits in the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, followed by Taylor Swift’s “Bad Blood.” “Trap Queen” by Fetty Wap is in the No. 3 spot while “Shut Up and Dance” by Walk the Moon is in the No. 4 spot. “Want to Want Me” by Jason DeRulo rounds out the top five.

Considering the fact that both the songs Sheeran mentioned are already in the top five, it is quite possible that Sheeran’s predictions could come true.

What do you think the song of the summer will be? Do you agree with Sheeran, or do you think Ed Sheeran’s predictions will be incorrect?
