Little Mix Doesn’t Feel The Need To Be ‘Sexy’ Or ‘Perfect’

Little Mix is not down with trying to look “sexy” or “perfect.” Unlike their pop peers, they understand that they have a unique look and they’re keeping it that way.

The British girl group revealed that although they feel self-conscious about their looks due to online bullying, they don’t want to have an “obsession with looking perfect.” In their new interview with Hunger Magazine, Little Mix opened up about the relationship rumors to their X Factor UK days. They also talked about the pressures they have faced to look a certain way.

Leigh Anne said that each one of them has been placed on a pedestal by their fans to look perfect. She claimed that “social media has made everyone have an obsession with looking perfect.”

Jade revealed that the cruel comments have taken her self-esteem down a few notches, saying, “I remember once a magazine Photoshopped my nose and I saw it, and I started crying.”

Jesy added, “We’re not here to represent perfection, because none of us are perfect.”

The singer proved it by posing a makeup-free selfie on Instagram. The singer swapped out her kohl-rimmed eyes and dark lips for a natural look on Thursday evening. Even though Jesy isn’t wearing much makeup in the photo, she’s still as beautiful as ever.

Little Mix doesn’t care if they’re not seen as sexual either. According to Jade Thirlwall, it’s more important that they’re seen as good role models to their fans and to other aspiring singers.

“[It’s] really important. When we first got together I think we realized that there wasn’t anyone in that lane that was representing girls in a positive way without being overly sexual. I think we’ve filled that gap now. At first we worried about getting girls on our side, but thankfully they came flooding in. I think young girls need an ally in music.”

Unfortunately, that hasn’t stopped the media from making remarks about Little Mix’s sexiness. The Daily Mail remarked that Jesy Nelson flaunted both her legs and cleavage in a lingerie-inspired romper. She was seen wearing the lacy number underneath a long red plaid shirt. The Little Mix singer paired her cheeky look with a black choker, dark black sunglasses and black knee-high boots.

Nelson joined her three bandmates at Leeds’ Radio Aire Station on Thursday morning. Little Mix have been hard at work promoting their new single “Black Magic” for the past few days. The girls also released their new music video for the song. The four singers of Little Mix also revealed that they’re still working hard on their new album.
