‘Dark Matter’: SYFY Fans Excited About New Trailer, TV Series But Expecting To Be Disappointed, Premieres Tonight

Dark Matter is a new TV series coming to SyFy this weekend. Dark Matter, which is based on the comic book written by Joseph Mallozzi and Paul Mullie, is due to premiere tonight.

Produced by Prodigy Pictures, the graphic novel-inspired Dark Matter series centers around a group of six individuals who mysteriously appeared on a space ship. As each one arrives, they are greeted by the others who are already on board. As they compare experiences, they realize that every single one of them has no memory of who they are or how they boarded the ship. More than that, they want to know why they are on a spaceship and who zapped their memories.

A similar concept was created for the show the 1960s television show Lost in Space, formerly known as Space Family Robinson. The cosmic hit aired from 1965 to 1968 on CBS.

The new Dark Matter trailer is creating quite a buzz as viewers get ready to tune in tonight. But the show is not going to be an easy sell for SyFy viewers who say they are often left disappointed by television series that look promising but are later snatched off of the programming slate. To hardcore comic fans, the Dark Matter trailer looks fantastic, and they are hoping that the new TV series will have a Star Trek/Stargate Atlantis feel to it. The new show will go over even better with SyFy addicts if it offers an exciting mix of fun and open adventure throughout the series. Here is what potential Dark Matter viewers are saying on social media.

“I’ll give it three episodes, I have a good feeling about this one.”

“Putting on my. DVR.”

“great. Does that mean you’re finally going to stop airing Jurassic Park 10 times a day?”

Beginning on June 10, fans were given the chance to enter “the Dark Matter contest for a chance to win a real 3D-printed model of the show’s spaceship.” Hulu was also offering audiences the opportunity to view the pilot back in May.

Dark Matter stars Marc Bendavid as One/Jace Corso, Melissa O’Neil as Two/Portia Lin, Anthony Lemke as Three/Marcus Boone, Alex Mallari Jr. as Four as Ryo Tetsuda, Jodelle Ferland as Five/Das, Roger Cross as Six/Griffin Jones, Zoie Palmer as The Android, David Hewlett as Tabor Calchek, Amanda Brugel as Keeley, and Wil Wheaton as Alex Rook.

Science fiction alert: Switch your remote to SyFy at 10/9c tonight and get ready to be transported to somewhere out of this world. Here are the trailer and tease.

“The crew of a derelict spaceship is awakened from stasis with no memories of who they are or how they got on board. Facing threats at every turn, they have to work together to survive a voyage charged with vengeance, betrayal and hidden secrets.”
