Mariah Carey Vs. Kate Upton: Diva Replaces ‘Game Of War’ Bombshell In New Ads

Kate Upton has been usurped! The 23-year-old blond bombshell and the face of the Game of War mobile video game is being replaced by none other than former American Idol judge and diva Mariah Carey.

According to TMZ, Mariah “will be the new face and new set of ample boobs for the ridiculously successful Game of War: Fire Age.” One of the major selling points to the supposed seven figure deal is that Carey’s music will be featured in the upcoming spots.

Little else is known, such as what Upton’s reaction was to being replaced, but TMZ is reporting the 30-second commercial featuring Carey will “last 2 days and the guy in charge is the director for Terminator Genisys.”

The Game of War mobile spots exploded onto the scene before this year’s Super Bowl and netted the fledgling mobile gaming company a whopping $1 million dollars a day in revenue thanks in large part to Kate Upton’s massive appeal, according to Gamespot.

In one ad, the former Sports Illustrated swimsuit model parades around in a rather busty medieval breastplate while preparing for battle. In another, Kate Upton is seen bathing nude before exiting on horseback after her castle is bombarded. Many critics have argued the commercials made Kate appear “wooden” and could actually go on to hurt her career more than help it, as reported by Inquistr. But the bottom line for the Game of War gaming company is plain as day: Upton helped sell games, period.

“[The ads] gone on to be aired more than 9,000 times… According to developer Machine Zone, the free-to-play game’s in-app purchases–which range in price up to $100 — have doubled since the advertising campaign started.”

Mariah Carey meanwhile has been in the news more for her romantic life and her feuds than anything else as of late. She did recently release a compilation album of all her past number one hits called #1 To Infinity that featured new music as well. The album release for Mariah coincided with the launch of her Las Vegas residency show at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace, which began on May 6, 2015.

The only new track on the album, titled “Infinity,” received mixed reviews for its nostalgic sound.

“Between the corny (like Fritos) lyrics and the breathy Carey vocal runs,” Vanity Fair wrote, “we’re right back in the plaid shirt-wearing, tire swing-frolicking days of yore.”

And now Mariah Carey is exchanging that plaid for a suit of armor with the new Game of War ads. At least she resembles Kate Upton in the breastplate department.
