Jackie Siegel: Criticism For Peculiar Behavior At Daughter’s Funeral Ensues, Statement Released

Jackie Siegel was acting a bit strange at her daughter’s funeral, and she has received harsh criticism for it. According to Us Weekly, Mrs. Siegel was seen taking pictures of her daughter’s casket with her cell phone and holding a zebra striped cup with a straw as if she was just casually watching some live action on the street. While many people thought these actions were disrespectful and completely out of line for a mother that just lost her child, the family has spoken out about Siegel’s actions.

Family spokesperson, Michael Marder, released the following statement.

“People deal with grief differently. Mrs. Siegel is grieving as we all are. I have been with the family starting from the very first moment they learned of Victoria’s death and I can tell you that she has cried… a lot… and has been on an emotional roller[coaster]. There is no authoritative manual that tells us how to grieve. The entire family has been sleeping together in the large family room of the house since this horrible tragedy happened. They are talking together, crying together, and caring for and loving each other. The family has been through a terrible tragedy and had been hurt enough and the way Mrs. Siegel is being portrayed by some in the media is just adding additional pain not only to her but the entire family.”

Jackie Siegel and her husband, David, gained fame when they got their own documentary called Queen of Versailles. The show followed the wealthy family as they tried to build the “biggest home in America” back in 2012. Now, just three years later, their 18-year-old daughter, Victoria, is dead. As previously reported by the Inquisitr, Victoria Siegel was found inside her family’s home. Her cause of death has not yet been revealed, but initial assumptions included an accidental drug overdose or suicide.

According to Yahoo! News, Victoria’s body was taken to Woodlawn Cemetery in Gotha, Florida, after the funeral service. On Monday, the family revealed that Victoria was indeed dependent on drugs that she needed to take for seizures.

“Victoria had a history of seizures and was prescribed medication for this condition. Unfortunately she became dependent and struggled with this condition. She voluntarily underwent rehabilitation and was working hard to address this problem.”

The family has announced that they will be setting up the Victoria Siegel Foundation in memory of their late daughter. The foundation will raise awareness for “troubled teens with addiction issues.”
