‘Outlander’ Season 2 Will Not Be Split Into Two Seasons, Plus Who Was Just Cast As Bonnie Prince Charlie?

While Outlander is currently in production for Season 2, author Diana Gabaldon recently offered her own take on where the series is heading in the upcoming season. During a Q & A discussion on Starz following the Season 1 finale, Gabaldon revealed that her second novel would not be split into two parts, and that fans will see more of Frank in Season 2.

The second season of Outlander will center on Claire and Jamie as they travel to France, where they become involved in the political scene in Paris. “They’ll go to Paris in fact, and they’ll try to change history,” producer Ron Moore revealed to E! News. “They’ll try to stop the Jacobite rebellion, so they’ll meet Bonnie Prince Charlie, a real historical figure. They’re going to live in Paris. It’s a completely different show.”

While Caitriona Balfe and Sam Heughan will be reprising their roles as Claire and Jamie, the new season will also feature a number of new faces. E! News is reporting that Stanley Weber, a notable French actor, is set to play Le Comte St. Germain. Germain will be featured as a villain in the coming season.

Meanwhile, Moore is keeping his choices for the roles of Brianna and Roger a secret for now. Karen Gillan (Doctor Who) and Rose Leslie (Downton Abbey) are two names that have been brought up to potentially play Brianna, while Richard Madden (Game of Thrones) and Joshua Sasse (Galavant) are thought to be in the running for Roger.

There are a number of new roles set to appear in the coming season of Outlander, and news is starting to trickle in as actors are cast in pivotal roles. One of these new characters is the cryptic Master Raymond, who will be played by the French actor Dominique Pinon.

According to TVLine, Raymond is healer who is also aware of various information regarding political and occult knowledge. As Claire and Jamie head to France in the new season, Raymond will also share a particular connection with Claire.

Pinon is perhaps best known for his role in the 90s film Alien: Resurrection, in which he played John Vriess, a paraplegic engineer.

Meanwhile, Access Hollywood is reporting that Andrew Gower will be playing a member of a royal family in the coming season. Gower is set to play Prince Charles Edward Stuart (a.k.a Bonnie Prince Charlie). Charles has a fondness for drinking and women, and has a good deal of ambition to go along with his vices.

Gower, an alum from the Oxford School of Drama, portrayed Caligula in NBC’s AD: The Bible. He has also appeared in Being Human, and Monroe.

Elsewhere, Diana Gabaldon announced through her Facebook account that Romann Berrux will be playing the French child named Fergus. Additionally, Rosie Day is set to play Mary Hawkins while Natalie Spence will also be joining the cast, though her character’s name has yet to be determined.

An official premiere date for Season 2 of Outlander has yet to be released.
