Jill Duggar And Jessa Duggar Not Getting ’19 Kids And Counting’ Spin-Off

Jill Duggar and Jessa Duggar just aren’t enough Duggars for a 19 Kids and Counting spin-off. According to a recent report, the girls won’t be getting their own show. However, there’s still a ray of hope for fans who want the Duggars to stay on TV.

Because of the backlash to the Josh Duggar sexual molestation scandal, there have been persistent rumors that TLC is going to dump the Duggars by canceling 19 Kids and Counting. However, there’s also been speculation that the network is reluctant to abandon the large, lucrative family that has fascinated viewers for years.

A spin-off series following Jill Duggar, Jessa Duggar, and their small families is a happy medium that would somewhat satisfy Duggar detractors and Duggar supporters — many viewers don’t think Josh and his parents deserve to be on TV now that they know the details about the Josh Duggar molestation scandal. However, Jill and Jessa were two of Josh’s victims, so some fans might not think that it’s fair to yank them off TV because of their family members’ mistakes.

Unfortunately for fans of the Duggar daughters, a TLC network source recently told Radar Online that there are “no plans” to produce a 19 Kids and Counting spin-off starring Jessa and Jill.

“Even though the sisters are wildly popular, their draw may not be enough for the beleaguered network to put them back on the air in light of the still-unfolding scandal,” Radar writes.

As the Inquisitr previously reported, there might not be enough material for a show all about Jessa Duggar and Jill Duggar. 19 Kids and Counting already had a problem with recycling old material for new shows, so the network could really struggle to find enough interesting Jessa and Jill footage to fill an entire hour of TV. Hardcore Duggar fans might enjoy a show that follows Jill’s first year as a mom and Jessa’s first pregnancy, but without the 19 kids hook, the show would lose the novelty that made it appeal to the less-Duggar obsessed.

Luckily for Duggar fans, the family’s TV career isn’t dead just yet. As Fox News points out, TLC hasn’t actually canceled 19 Kids and Counting, so there’s a chance that the network might decide to keep the show on the air. Reality star manager Marc Marcuse speculated on why TLC has waited so long to announce its plans for the future of the series.

“At this point, it seems nearly inevitable that the show will be canceled, but sometimes bad publicity yields ratings.”

It’s also possible that the network is hoping that the scandal will simply blow over so it can announce that the show is returning without causing a massive media firestorm.

In the meantime, fans of Jessa Duggar and Jill Duggar can take comfort in knowing that the girls have become active on social media once again, so they’ll likely continue to share updates on their lives with their fans whether or not their show gets canned.

Now that it’s been revealed a Jessa and Jill Duggar spin-off isn’t going to happen, do you think TLC is planning to keep 19 Kids and Counting on the air?
