Will Ferrell And Kristen Wiig Lifetime Movie ‘A Deadly Adoption’ Teaser Released: Comedy or Drama? [VIDEO]

The teaser for the Will Ferrell and Kristen Wiig Lifetime Original movie, A Deadly Adoption, has been released, and has left Wiig and Ferrell fans scratching their heads as to whether or not the film is a comedy or a drama or even a legitimate film.

Both Wiig and Ferrell are best known for their comedic prowess, and it doesn’t help that the leaked announcement of Lifetime’s Wiig and Farrell collaboration came on the most joking day of the year, April Fool’s Day. After fans expressed excitement over the pairing of Wiig and Ferrell, Ferrell came out on April 3 to say that the Lifetime movie would be scrapped.

As Lifetime continues to promote A Deadly Adoption for a June 20 debut, Ferrell’s announcement and he and Wiig’s prior history of practical jokes have left everyone skeptical as to the legitimacy of it.

The 20 second teaser features a gun toting Kristen Wiig and what appears to be a bloodied Will Ferrell mysteriously dealing with an angry looking 90210 alum, Jessica Lowndes. Lifetime network says the movie is based on a true story and will be a “dramatic thriller,” but those familiar with Wiig and Ferrell have a hard time buying into the description.

Though both Kristen Wiig and Will Ferrell have shown they have the capability for dramatic roles, Wiig in such films as The Skeleton Twins and Welcome To Me and Ferrell for Stranger Than Fiction and Everything Must Go, both got their career starts as regulars on Saturday Night Live and have found their bread and butter to be in the comedy movie genre.

Recently, Wiig and Ferrell starred alongside Tobey Maguire in the satirical melodrama The Spoils of Babylon, making it hard to believe A Deadly Adoption doesn’t fall in the same category.

Lifetime Original movies often are comprised of drama, mystery, and real life scenarios. While it seems unlikely that Will Ferrell and Kristen Wiig would pick Lifetime as an outlet for a serious dramatic venture, it might just be the perfect match.

On the other hand, this could be Lifetime’s way of branching out into original comedies, and who better than Kristen Wiig and Will Ferrell to lead the charge?

When it comes to the minds of Ferrell and Wiig, it’s just hard to tell which road they will take. Earlier in the year, Ferrell played in several baseball spring training games for charity. The event was filmed for an HBO special and even garnered Ferrell his own Topps baseball card. And Wiig went viral after appearing on The Tonight Show as the Game of Thrones character, Dany. When it comes to Wiig and Ferrell, it seems like it’s best to expect the unexpected.

So is the Kristen Wiig and Will Ferrell Lifetime movie a comedy, drama, or does it even actually exist?
