Christina Aguilera Takes A Break From ‘The Voice’ Staff Hope It’s Permanent

Christina Aguilera is taking a break from The Voice for season nine of the reality TV show. Aguilera will be replaced by Gwen Stefani who also replaced Aguilera for season seven. According to The Wrap Stefani will be joined by Adam Levine, Blake Shelton and Pharrell Williams. The host will once again be Carson Daley. Whilst Stefani was not a judge during season eight she did act as an adviser for Aguilera and Williams’ teams.

Aguilera has been one of the longest standing judges on The Voice albeit that she has had frequent breaks. Christina has never had a contestant win the show, the closest she came was a second place in season five. Aguilera has suggested that she would like to see two female judges on the program.

Aguilera said, “I would love to see two females on the same season in the red chairs, We need more female power because, look what I have to put up with all alone, all by myself.”

It’s not clear what Aguilera meant by “what I have to put up with” but it may be that she was alluding to the frequent conflict between her and co-judge, Maroon 5 front-man Adam Levine. VC Post report that Radar Online say that staff on The Voice are dearly hoping that Aguilera will not return to the show at all.

They quote a source as saying “No one wants Christina to come back as a judge on season nine of The Voice. She was really difficult to work with this season. Tensions between her and Adam were consistent, but she also just had a really bad attitude.”

It has been claimed that Aguilera acted like a “diva” reporting late on set, being very demanding and failing to rub along with the other coaches. The show has been suffering from poor ratings and it is hoped that freshening up the coaching team will help to revive its fortunes. There have even been rumors that Justin Bieber could be drafted in as a permanent replacement for Aguilera.

Gwen Stefani said that she was thrilled to be returning to The Voice as a replacement for Aguilera.

“I’m coming back and am so excited! I can’t believe I get to return to The Voice. It’s so inspiring to be around such incredible talent and music. I’m looking forward to working again with Adam, Blake and Pharrell. I love those guys.”

At present it is not clear what Christina Aguilera’s plans are but there have been suggestions that she may release a new album at the end of 2015.
