The release of the trailer for the long-anticipated The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2 is here and it marks an event that will be bittersweet for fans of The Hunger Games film adaptations because it will be the final film.
As sad as it will make fans of The Hunger Games to see the series come to its conclusion, there is also an overwhelming anticipation, especially among those who have not yet read The Hunger Games books by author-turned-producer Suzanne Collins. For those that have stayed with The Hunger Games this far, there must be a completion to the story. Can Peeta’s brainwashing be reversed? What will become of District 12? Will Katniss survive the coming battle to free the rest of the districts?
Most importantly, will President Snow get the execution he so richly deserves?
It seems The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2 will give us answers to those questions and more. Without revealing any of the best spoilers, the trailer for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2 gives us a look at what we can expect from the conclusion of The Hunger Games.
“We all have one enemy. He corrupts everyone and everything. He turns the best of us against each other. Tonight, turn your weapons to the capitol.”
From that first awe-inspiring moment, when Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) shouts “I volunteer! I volunteer as tribute!” to save her younger sister, The Hunger Games films were filled with moments that sent chills up the spines of viewers throughout the world.
Later in that same first installment of The Hunger Games, Katniss again inspired the admiration of fans, when, after firing an arrow square into the chest of the target dummy, she finds that the panel of judges are too busy feasting and carrying on their own conversations to bother with her exhibition. Katniss again fires an arrow, but this time shoots the apple out of the pig’s mouth, among all of those judges. “Thank you. For your consideration.”
How many times have we each wanted to do something like that in real life situations?
Jumping ahead to The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1, Katniss again stirs our inner rebel with this short-but-oh-so-sweet speech.
And finally there was this song that Jennifer Lawrence admitted her reluctance to perform, but surprisingly earned The Hunger Games star a place on the Top 40 of the Billboard Hot 100 singles.
“Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the 76th annual Hunger Games“
The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2 opens on November 20 in theaters.
