Katy Perry: ‘1984’ Album May Serve As Ammo In ‘Bad Blood’ Feud With Taylor Swift [Video]

Katy Perry has a new album, 1984, that might serve as a new potshot in her feud with Taylor Swift. And although the two pop singers seem to have so much in common, Katy and Taylor have a long, nasty history of dissing each other, reported Yahoo.

Like a game of chess played by masters, Katy has been contemplating the best way to respond to “Bad Blood,” which Taylor reportedly wrote about Katy.

Now comes what appears to be Perry’s decision on how to approach it, revealed in the registration of a song entitled “1984” with BMI.

What’s the significance of those numbers? That’s Katy’s birth year, and it just so happens that Taylor titled her own album 1989 to honor her own birth year.

Both Perry and Swift have played the feud game in subtle ways. Taylor once revealed that “Bad Blood” told the tale of her views on a female performance, terming them as “straight-up enemies.”

So how did the feud began, and why do Katy and Taylor continue to diss each other?

It’s a combination of two factors: Boyfriends and backup dancers. Both singers dated John Mayer, and both bickered about backup dancers.

And in the past, Swift admitted to Rolling Stone, she has dissed her boyfriends in song. But now, Taylor declares herself a feminist. And as a result, she’s both intensely loyal to her close girlfriends and intensely irate to those who have crossed what she sees as a firm line when it comes to defining friendship.

Talking about “Bad Blood” and the theme of a female artist about whom she is angry (allegedly Katy), Taylor explained why she dissed her musically.

“For years, I was never sure if we were friends or not,” explained Swift. “She would come up to me at awards shows and say something and walk away, and I would think, ‘Are we friends, or did she just give me the harshest insult of my life?’ ”

But the feud began when, according to Taylor’s version, Katy sabotaged her by attempting to hire her back-up dancers.

“She did something so horrible. I was like, ‘Oh, we’re just straight-up enemies.’ And it wasn’t even about a guy! It had to do with business. She basically tried to sabotage an entire arena tour. She tried to hire a bunch of people out from under me. And I’m surprisingly non-confrontational – you would not believe how much I hate conflict. So now I have to avoid her. It’s awkward, and I don’t like it.”

As to whether there is anything personal about the feud?

“I don’t think there would be any personal problem if she weren’t competitive,” dissed Taylor.

But all that dissing discussion doesn’t mean that Swift is without friends. As the Inquisitr reported, Taylor celebrated her 25th birthday with a group of pals, including Selena Gomez.
