Dunkin Donuts Launches Home Delivery Service, New Music Video?

Dunkin’ Donuts is toying with the idea of home delivery. The donut company’s CEO, Nigel Travis, says he plans to make this it happen in the near future. Just don’t expect Dunkin’ Donuts to start delivering anytime soon, though.

“Delivery is clearly a big opportunity. The trend in this country is convenience. I think the next few years you’re going to get us more and more into delivery.”

Travis says he wants to perform a “private test” of the delivery service. It sounds like Dunkin’ Donuts is venturing in the mobile world by launching its own home delivery app.

“We’re not developing mobile ordering. We’ll probably launch mobile ordering sometime this year.”

Dunkin’ Donuts has Starbucks beat in the Northeast and most parts of New England. But the company wants to beat the coffee giant with its smartphone app in the Northwest. Dunkin’ Donuts already offers products that can be ordered from its website, like coffee mugs and T-Shirts. Why not donuts and coffee?

Starbucks already launched its mobile ordering app back in March. It’s an ideal way for customers to place an order on their phones and then pick it up at any Starbucks in their area. The company started testing deliveries in Seattle and at New York City’s Empire State building, according to Time magazine.

Travis agrees that Dunkin’ Donuts needs to get on board with home delivery. Both Chipotle and McDonald’s have begun experimenting with food delivery service, but only in New York City.

“The trend in this country is convenience. So I think delivery plays very strongly. I think the next few years you’re going to see us get more and more into delivery.”

Dunkin’ Donuts has also dropped its very own music video. New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski and Boston Red Sox player David Ortiz have teamed up for the donut company’s new music collaboration called “Summer Chill.” The album celebrates Dunkin’ Donuts’ classic iced coffee.

The first new single, called “Sippin,” was released on Monday, June 8, along with a new music video to accompany it. What made Dunkin’ Donuts decide to launch an album, let alone a music video?

“This momentous musical pairing between these beloved sports stars tunes in on two things we know New Englanders are exceptionally passionate about: summer and Dunkin’ Donuts’ Iced Coffee. We hope people will have as much fun enjoying the songs and videos as Gronk and Big Papi had making them.”

Three more singles are expected to release later this summer. Check out the new song and video below.
