That 70’s Show Actress Says Arrest is Bogus, Roommate ‘Framed’ Her

Yesterday, one of the bigger entertainment stories of the day was the arrest of That 70’s Show actress Lisa Robin Kelly, who played the hot bad-girl character Laurie on the sitcom from 1998 until 2003.

Kelly, now 42, appears to have been struggling in the past few years professionally and personally, and the arrest seemed to be another setback for the That 70’s Show actress. When Kelly left the show at the peak of its popularity, it was rumored that her alleged hard-partying ways were in part responsible for her departure.

In the intervening years, Kelly has not worked much, but she was arrested for DUI in 2010 and sentenced to a year of probation. And yesterday, news of her second arrest for a felony domestic charge went viral. News about the incident was scant, but Kelly was taken into custody in Lost Hills by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and slapped with the felony charge.

It was originally reported by TMZ that Kelly had been arrested for inflicting some sort of injury upon a spouse:

“Lisa Robin Kelly, who played the sister of main character Eric Forman on “That 70s Show,” was arrested early this morning on a felony charge of corporal injury upon a spouse … TMZ has learned.”

The site spoke to Kelly about the arrest after the story hit- and Kelly says that the charges, brought by a roommate, are bogus. TMZ explains:

“Lisa says she’s been having issues with the guy for a while … and tried to leave the pad for good on Friday, but he became angry and ‘roughed me up.’ …Lisa says she called police … but the guy took off before they arrived … and she decided it wasn’t worth her time to press charges… A short time later, the roommate showed up at the police station claiming Lisa had attacked him … something Lisa insists NEVER happened.

‘He must have scratched himself or done something to himself,’ Lisa says.”

The former That 70’s Show actress also says that she is incapable of assaulting a man as reported, and she is simply focused on getting her career back on track:

“I am clean and sober and I have made a lot of progress. I am completely innocent. I weigh 105 pounds. I could never hurt him. I just want to start working again.”

Kelly’s roommate was unavailable for comment.
