Rock Band Blitz Announced for PSN, XBLA

If you were to take a look at the screenshot above, you might figure that Rock Band Blitz is yet another Rock Band title that makes use of a new line of peripherals. Well, you’d be wrong.

Harmonix stopped by G4’s X-Play this evening to announce Rock Band Blitz for the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Arcade. Instead of you and your pals using peripherals, however, gamers will make use of their gamepad. For those of you with dexterous fingers, you’ll even be able to switch through different instrument tracks while playing to increase your score.

Rock Band Blitz comes with 25 songs, which I’d say is pretty impressive considering that it’s a digital title–but that’s not even the most impressive part. In addition to all of the songs being playable in Rock Band 3, Rock Band Blitz will also be able to pull tracks that you already own from Rock Band‘s extensive DLC library.

There’s currently no word on when Rock Band Blitz is scheduled to make its debut on PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Arcade or how much it will cost. In the meantime, you can check out the G4-exclusive reveal trailer by checking out the embedded video below. You can also check out the X-Play announcement by heading over to this link.
