Iranian Female Ninjas Are Suing Reuters [Video]

Tehran, Iran – Last month, Reuters came out with a report on Iran’s famed female ninjas, who are fighting for sexual equality under the Ayatollah by studying ancient Japanese fighting styles like Kung Fu and Ninjutsu. There are nearly 3,500 of them. Though the women spend their time throwing metal stars and crushing opponents with daredevil kicks they are doing it for fun, not to assassinate political opponents.

Unfortunately for news outlet Reuters, the women do not appreciate being called “assassins”. The Reuters story said the women could be deployed to help kill foreign invaders. Most other news outlets that picked up the story repeated the claim citing Reuters as the source. Reuters changed the story immediately but the damage had been done. The Ninjas are now suing Reuters for defamation of character.

One of the Ninjas said to the media,

“We are taking legal action because the ladies that train in Ninjutsu first and foremost enjoy it as a sport. It’s about working out and staying fit. Reuters has blatantly lied about us.”

The female ninjas fear that if they are branded as political assassins they may be barred from appearing at international ninja competitions.

The Telegraph, which also inaccurately said the women were being trained by the regime to fight Westerners, has footage of the ninjas in action, running up walls, somersaulting across rooms, and swinging swords.

We in the West can sleep soundly at night though. The Ninjas have more to fear from the Ayatollahs than we do as female sports in the country are extremely limited due to modesty issues under Islamic Law.
