Melissa George Pregnant: ‘Heartbreaker’ Actress Expecting Second Child, NBC Show Moves To Mid-Season

Former Alias actress Melissa George is pregnant with her second child and reports indicate that this new pregnancy will shift the schedule of her new upcoming NBC show. George, who already has one child with longtime beau Jean-David Blanc, will be starring on the new show called Heartbreaker.

Melissa George is pregnant again, though fans didn’t necessarily suspect that this kind of big news was on the way based on her last big public appearance at amfAR’s Cinema Against AIDS Gala on May 21. George’s dress certainly concealed any baby bump at the time, though now the word is out.

People confirms the news that Melissa George is pregnant. The actress welcomed son Raphael with Blanc in February, 2014, and she happily shared news of that pregnancy and delivery via social media during the big events. This time around, it looks like she’s going a more quiet route with the news.

As Us Weekly notes, the premiere of NBC’s Heartbreaker will now shift to a mid-season start date rather than a fall debut date. The new spinoff of Chicago P.D. and Chicago Fire, Chicago Med, will get that fall spot instead.

Though many still remember George from her days as Lauren Reed on Alias, she’s had significant roles in a number of other shows before and after being on the Jennifer Garner-led spy television show. Melissa also has starred as Dr. Sadie Harris on Grey’s Anatomy, as Rosie on The Slap, and as Marilyn Garbanza on The Good Wife.

Heartbreaker also stars Dave Annable, from Brothers & Sisters, and the show is slated to begin production mid-summer. In a bit of fun news, Annable recently shared the exciting news that his wife Odette is pregnant with their first child as well.

Variety reports that Melissa George’s pregnancy came as a bit of a shocker to network executives after the upfront presentations and trailer premiere. The show is being shifted and reworked a bit to ensure they can accommodate the actress’ pregnancy.

The new show is based on real-life heart-transplant surgeon Dr. Kathy Magliato. George takes on the role of Dr. Alex Panttiere, which is based on Magliato. Annable plays Dr. Pierce Harrison, Alex’s love interest. The trailer for the new series has generated a lot of buzz, though now curious potential viewers will have to hang tight for a few extra months to see if this will be the next big hit for NBC.

While there will still be more details to come regarding just how the show plans to move forward after the big news, fans are thrilled for the actress now that news is out that Melissa George is pregnant.
