Charlie Puth’s ‘See You Again’ Piano Demo Version ‘10,000X Better Than The Version With Wiz’

Wiz Khalifa’s “See You Again” returns to the number one spot on the Billboard Hot 100 list, but fans are saying that Charlie Puth’s “See You Again” piano demo version is much better than the rapper’s version.

As reported on Inquisitr previously, the Furious 7 tribute to Paul Walker featuring Charlie Puth and Wiz Khalifa has reached the top of the charts again, knocking down Taylor Swift’s “Bad Blood,” which broke the song’s seven week streak following the 2015 Billboard Music Awards. After a week on the top of the charts, the country-singer-turned-pop-star is back to number two and Puth’s original song is number one once more.

This is an exciting time for rapper Wiz Khalifa. The boost back to the top of the list was most likely spurred by the performance Khalifa and Puth put on for Jimmy Kimmel Live’s outdoor stage performance. This brought along an onslaught of YouTube views and media downloads, showing this song as the crowd favorite. You can watch the performance here.

However, this isn’t the only video that received a large number of views and worldwide attention following the show. It also led millions of viewers to watch Charlie Puth’s “See You Again” piano demo version, which is an acoustic version of the song without any rapping.

It was a hit, and fans are buzzing with positive responses. Trevor Elvins commented on the YouTube page.

“I’m a big fan of rap but this version is 10,000X better than the version with Wiz. Wiz didn’t suit the song at all, not a lot of rappers would suit this song.”

Elvin’s comment received 602 likes, no dislikes, and several comments of agreement. One comment, posted by LizardsGaming, reiterated the sentiment.

“With the normal version there are 66 views per like. With this version there are 79 views per like. That means that more people like the normal version. I have a feeling some people only like the rapping and ignore the rest of the song.”

Another commenter called the rapping posed and others pointed out that “the lyrics seem to have more meaning when they’re sung slower and properly.” In response to that, one viewer agreed with: “You can’t rap powerfully in a tribute song.”

Furthermore, the “See You Again” piano demo version is less than a million views behind the Wiz version, which has been out longer and has received more views because it was featured on the Furious 7 movie and soundtrack. That says a lot for the power of the song, sans rapping.

The Furious 7 tribute was written by music school graduate Charlie Puth, and it’s the vehicle that drove him to instant fame. He wrote the song in 11 minutes, and beat out 50 other competitors for the Paul Walker tribute slot. Despite the song being originally his, it’s Wiz that’s receiving all the credit, thanks to his longer history as a celebrity. Even though the Charlie Puth piano demo version is “1000xX better than the version with the Wiz,” it looks like Khalifa will remain the famous one.
