Ashley Graham: No Sex Before Marriage Is Empowering [Video]

She’s not the first star to give up sex before marriage, but Ashley Graham is certainly the most empowered. The plus-size model recently sat down with Elle U.K. in the July issue to explain her decision – and why it’s the sexiest move she’s made yet.

In the July issue, Ashley shows off a black, semi-sheer two-piece, a white jacket, and a baseball cap, and Graham lets you know she has a healthy self-confidence with an upturned chin.

As an activist that believes all women should have a positive body image, Ashley wanted to feel in control of her own body. But Graham’s not just showing women that curves are beautiful, but that a healthy sexual attitude is a must as well – and that no sex before marriage is okay.

“I had to reclaim my body, my sexuality and my image. It was the best thing I’ve ever done,” Ashley told People magazine. “You don’t want to wake up with regrets. I’m not having a man decide what he’s going to do with my body – I’ll decide.”

Graham has even given talks at Tedx Talk conferences about embracing yourself and feeling comfortable in your own skin, including a speech at the TEDx Talks conference in Valencia, Spain, last week. The audience jumped to their feet in applause after Graham delivered an empowering talk titled “Plus Size? More Like My Size”, according to Canada Journal.

The stunning 28-year-old brunette shot to fame this year when Ashley began speaking out against Hollywood’s impossible standards. Graham had something to say about Jennifer Lawrence.

“Jennifer Lawrence is the media’s poster girl for curves — she’s tiny,” according to Graham. “There needs to be more education in schools, because that’s where eating disorders start. It’s not just about being healthy; it’s also about loving who you are.”

As previously reported by the Inquisitr, Swimsuits for All helped Ashley challenge viewers by asking, “Are you ready for this beach body?” The campaign’s poster pictured Ashley in a two-piece black bikini with the hashtag #CurvesinBikinis as a celebration of curvy bodies.

“I hope women see me embracing my curves in my bikini and feel empowered to do the same. I have no reason to hide, and neither should any woman,” Ashley Graham told Elle U.K. “Curves and confidence make a sexy combination! There are also women who are getting thinner and thinner. I don’t promote anorexia or obesity. I promote health. And healthy at whatever size your body needs to be.”
