Wisconsin Planned Parenthood Location Rattled By Homemade Bomb

A homemade explosive device was setup off on Sunday night at a Planned Parenthood clinic in Grand Chute, Wisconsin. FBI officials are now working with Grand Chute police to determine who created and exploded the improvised device.

Planned Parenthood has promised to beef up security around its facility although president and CEO of Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin Teri Huyck declined to comment on what type of additional security precautions would be taken, noting “our first concern is for the safety of our patients and our staff.”

The bomb was placed on an outside windowsill at the clinic which is located at 3800 N. Gillett St. although no threats were made against the clinic before the attack was initiated.

While the device managed to explode and caused a fire only minor damage was witnessed in the clinics examination room while the fire burned itself out before firefighters arrived.

According to Police chief Greg Peterson the bomb was make out of a plastic bottle with various chemical agents and an incendiary agent.

Staff members are said to be doing well, thankfully nobody was in the clinic when the bomb was set off at just after 7:30pm Sunday night.

In defending the clinic Hucyk told the Post Crescent:

“Women deserve safe and compassionate care and we’re proud to provide it … They know we care about their safety.”

Patients were notified on Monday that their appointments were being cancelled while the clinic’s criminal investigation was being completed and the damage to the examination room was being fixed.
