Michael Ealy Goes Nuts In ‘The Perfect Guy’ — But His Fans Don’t Care

Actor Michael Ealy apparently proves that hot guys can get away with being crazy!

With the release of the first official trailer of his new movie, The Perfect Guy, fans and critics had a chance to see a side of the 41-year-old actor that they are not very used to seeing.

In the David M. Rosenthal-directed film, Michael plays Carter Duncan — a charming stranger that quickly turns from a superhero saving a damsel from distress into a super villain that distresses the same damsel.

The trailer starts off by showing the brutal ending of Leah and Dave’s relationship (played by Sanaa Lathan and Morris Chestnut respectively). Enter Carter Duncan (Ealy) to save the day and sweep Leah off of her feet.

However, there comes a point when (as Leah mentions in the trailer) “it was like a switch went off.” As soon as Carter chokes and beats up a guy at a gas station who simply wanted to take a picture of the car, Leah realizes that she might have bitten off a little more than she could chew.

Even when she decides to get back with Dave, Michael Ealy’s character seems to only step up his obsessiveness – pulling the “If I Can’t Have You, No One Will” card that is usually played in other movies of this nature.

Perhaps the most surprising part about it, though, is the reaction of Michael’s fans to the trailer. As shown by most of the responses on Twitter, many of his fans are still drooling over him. Some of them are even into Michael Ealy more now than ever before because of this highly-anticipated movie.

Quite a few fans are even more excited that Michael Ealy and Morris Chestnut are featured in leading roles in the same movie together. As seen in the trailer, they both seem to have shirtless scenes in the film as well.

While this is not the first time that Michael Ealy has played the “bad guy” role in a film, The Perfect Guy seems to allow him to take that persona to brand new heights — presenting a major challenge from himself to overcome as an actor.

However, based on the trailer alone, it seems as if Carter Duncan could very well become one of the most memorable roles of Michael’s career.

Michael Ealy, Sanaa Lathan, and Morris Chestnut are currently scheduled to bring major waves to the movie industry when The Perfect Guy is released in theaters on September 11, 2015.
