‘The Drunk Knight’: Massachusetts Man’s Random Act Of Kindness Gets Ridiculed Online

A person known as “The Drunk Knight” is garnering some negative attention for a random act of kindness he did for a man who was passed out drunk behind the wheel of a car.

On Reddit, one user known as Krazy_Legs confessed that he is the one who left the Drunk Knight note for the stranger. He posted the images on Imgur, saying that he found the man outside of his apartment at 3 a.m. “passed out drunk with his car running.”

“The bars close at midnight where I am, so I tried to wake him up, but he just kept mumbling and continued to sleep.”

He didn’t say where, specifically, but Krazy_Legs did note in one of the comments on the Reddit thread that he lives in Massachusetts.

Instead of calling the cops, the Drunk Knight decided to assist the man. Noting that his apartment is above one of the local bars, the man said he went upstairs, grabbed a bottle of water for the passed out man, and wrote a note for when he finally woke up. The note explained that he turned off the man’s car and put the keys in a certain location.

“I found you passed out drunk with your car running, so I hid your keys under the Atlas in your back seat. I hope you get home safe. I’m not your hero. I’m your silent guardian. A watchful protector. – The Drunk Knight.”

Of course, after the Drunk Knight left the note, he mentioned that he did think of another possible outcome for when the man finally woke up.

“I realized, once I was sober, that a cop would probably just read the note and arrest him anyway, but at least I tried.”

While the Drunk Knight thought he might have been doing a random act of kindness by helping the man, many of the comments he has received from Imgur and Reddit users have been pretty negative.

“You’re right. You aren’t a hero. This a**hole was planning on driving his car in that state and you ‘helped him.’ Call the cops next time.”

“What would have really been considerate: taking his keys and a note with your # to call when he woke up to retrieve his keys…”

“As someone who has been involved in a hit and run by a drunk driver, you did nothing… If you wanted to help SOCIETY, you would of [sic] called the cops on this idiot and they could of dealt with it.”

Do you think the Drunk Knight should have called the police instead of helping the man?
