Jada Pinkett Smith Talks ‘Open’ Marriage With Will Smith: ‘He’s Got All The Freedom In The World’

Jada Pinkett Smith opened up to Howard Stern recently about her “open” marriage to hubby Will Smith and how they keep their kids in check when it comes to money.

In her interview with the Howard Stern Show on SiriusXM, Jada Pinkett Smith admitted that she and her husband are free to date whomever they wish.

However, as TooFab reported, that doesn’t necessarily mean that they go ahead and date whomever they choose. Instead, it’s more of a philosophical stance to avoid being clingy and distrusting.

“We have traveled and you’ve gotta be strong. It takes work — you know that! Here’s the deal, Howard. You gotta trust who you’re with, and at the end of the day, I’m not here to be anybody’s watcher. I’m not his watcher. He’s a grown man. I trust that the man that Will is is a man of integrity. He’s got all the freedom in the world, and as long as Will can look at himself in the mirror and be OK, I’m good.”

According to Us Weekly, Will and Jada Pinkett Smith have been married for nearly 20 years. The actress was only 25 at the time. She concedes that perhaps it was a little too young to contemplate marriage at such a young age and plans to tell her kids to wait a bit longer before making that commitment.

“Heck yeah, don’t do it,” she said on getting married too young.

“Thank God I have a husband who is just a gangster partner because can you imagine taking that road together from 25 to 44? Woo!”

With an open marriage, one has to wonder if Jada Pinkett Smith gets frustrated or suffers a lack of confidence if her husband checks out other women. However, Jada says she’s learned a great deal about men and marriage.

“If your man can’t really see another woman’s beauty how the hell is he going to see yours?”

And honestly, she adds, any affair would quickly be revealed.

“I’m gonna know anyway. It can sometimes [suck] if you’re not clear about where your man is.”

On a different topic, Jada Pinkett Smith shared her views on disciplining her children, which she concedes can be tricky considering the lifestyle the family leads.

Jada Pinkett Smith says she takes a practical stance when it comes to educating her kids on money.

“‘We’re rich, you’re not. They took that real seriously.”
