Drug Abuse Update: ‘Teen Mom 2’ Leah Messer Enrolls In Utah Rehab

Following reports of drug abuse, Teen Mom 2 star Leah Messer has reportedly entered a Utah rehab facility. According to a June 3 report by In Touch Weekly, Messer enrolled in a treatment program on May 21, nearly two weeks after she was scheduled to enter rehab, but changed her mind.

“She’s ready for her 30-day stint of therapy. She’s being treated for depression and stress. She’s always put other people’s needs ahead of her own, and her mental health suffered because of it.”

When rehab reports first surfaced, claiming Messer had entered treatment to address her alleged drug abuse, it was mentioned that she was not yet ready to expose her issues publicly and had been telling people she simply needed a break from her drama-plagued life. Now, it appears the reports were correct, as she is said to be addressing issues of “depression and stress,” rather than those of drug abuse.

According to the magazine, Messer flew to Utah weeks ago, and was photographed in her car with a suitcase in the back, several weeks ago, but after her ex-husband, Corey Simms, threatened to take custody of their twins, Aliannah and Aleeah, 5, she backed out.

After returning home a short while later, as reports of drug abuse continued to swirl, she and Simms reportedly sat down to talk, and settled their differences regarding Messer’s stay in rehab.

“They’ve worked everything out and everyone agrees that it’s best for the girls to be with Leah and best for Leah to take the time to get well. She is finally ready to make a positive change in her life and get treatment.”

As the Inquisitr previously reported, Messer’s mother addressed allegations of drug abuse on Facebook earlier this year. Below is what she revealed to fans on April 20.

“TRUE FANS listen up. Leah is NOT going to rehab lol. This is Momma Dawn and I 100% ASSURE you that Leah is NOT going to a DRUG REHAB. Lots of LOVE to the true fans. all will come out on the upcoming show about Leah Dawn Calvert, Jeremy, Corey,Miranda, and the babies. But rest assure I HATE drugs don’t want association with them and wouldn’t NEVER Condone them. Love ALL have a good night Momma Dawn.”

Messer’s alleged drug abuse is expected to be a main storyline during the upcoming sixth season of Teen Mom 2. The new season premieres on July 9 at 10 p.m. on MTV.
