‘Fallout 4’ Welcomes You Home With New Trailer, War Never Changes [Video]
Fallout 4 is officially happening. Bethesda Softworks made the announcement Wednesday for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC role-playing title complete with a new website and a trailer.
The official Fallout 4 website accidentally opened up approximately an hour before the trailer went live and was promptly taken down by Bethesda Softworks. However, it gave a sneak peek of someone’s garage working on armor for the Brotherhood of Steel while a dog stands guard. Perhaps there is someone inside?
Various weapons and tools are on a pegboard on a wall and along the ground as Nuka Cola products also scatter the scene. A little statue of Vault Boy also sits on a desk in the background.
Bethesda Softworks appears to be leaving the last-gen consoles behind for good. The PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC are the only platforms listed. This continues the slow, but steady transition to the new-gen consoles as other publishers, such as Ubisoft, are doing the same.
“We know what this game means to everyone,” said Game Director, Todd Howard, “The time and technology have allowed us to be more ambitious than ever. We’ve never been more excited about a game, and we can’t wait to share it.”
The full reveal of Fallout 4 will happen during Bethesda’s first E3 press conference on June 14. A rebooted DOOM will also be on hand.

The three minute cinematic trailer follows the same dog from the image as he explores a dilapidated house. Flashbacks happen as the dog moves from room to room to show the house and the neighborhood outside before the nuclear apocalypse rained down.
The trailer appears to confirm the long-rumored setting of Boston, Massachusetts. You can spot recognizable landmarks such as the golden dome of the Massachusetts Statehouse and the statue of Paul Revere. What time period Fallout 4 is set in for the Fallout universe is unknown. However, we once again see that the player’s adventure will start with exiting one of the Vaults that housed those lucky enough to escape the nuclear attack.

In-game scenes are presented as the camera pans across interesting sights, such as a on old sailing ship outfitted with rockets, industrial areas, and small cities with shops like the Memory Den, Power Noodles, and Chem-I-Car. Mutants return along with giant crabs, and a Robbie the Robot type robot. Meanwhile, the Brotherhood of Steel looks just as powerful as ever, with airships and V22-Osprey-like transport ships.
A release date for Fallout 4 was not hinted at. That’s likely to be revealed during the June 14 presentation at E3. It’s hard to imagine it will release this fall, but it has been four years since The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.
