Jennifer Caswell: Middle School Teacher Has Sex With Student — School District Allegedly Covers It Up

Former middle school teacher Jennifer Caswell pleaded guilty to having sex with an underage student, a crime that the father of the boy now claims was covered up by the school.

According to the Oklahoman, Jennifer Caswell is now awaiting sentencing for her sexual encounter with a 15-year-old. But the story doesn’t end there. The father of the student Caswell had sex with is filing a lawsuit against the school district for allegedly trying to cover up the story. Two separate individuals witnessed Jennifer Caswell having sex with the boy and reported the crime to an administrator. But the school district reportedly never notified the boy’s father, the police, or even the Department of Human Services.

Named on the lawsuit are the Hollis Independent School District, the Hollis Public School Board, and the superintendent of the administration, Jennifer McQueen, who refused to comment. But the school district is denying the claims, saying they handled the Jennifer Caswell incident professionally and legally.

“The district’s overall position is that they acted appropriately once they were aware of an issue,” said the district’s attorney, Andy Fugitt.

Jennifer Caswell was 29 at the time she had sex with the middle school student, according to the Huffington Post. Prior to her divorce, she was teaching under the name Jennifer Sexton at Hollis Middle School. She too declined to comment on the allegations, even after pleading guilty to the charges.

Prosecutors claim Jennifer Caswell engaged in sexual acts with the boy in three different locations: at her house, in a vehicle, and at the house of the boy’s father. After suspicions arose of Jennifer’s actions, the boy was sent to live with his mother. But Jennifer Caswell followed the teen on a 650-mile trip to Mississippi, attempting to initiate another sexual encounter. At that point, the boy started to cooperate with police officials regarding the crimes.

Jennifer Caswell wasn’t arrested until police caught her in a room together with the boy at a hotel in Olive Branch, Mississippi.

The names of the boy and his father have not been released to protect their identities.

According to Scallywag and Vagabond, the father is seeking $1 million in damages from the school district he claims covered up the crime. He says his son has become very withdrawn since Jennifer Caswell’s sexual misconduct and has lost interest in schoolwork and various other activities.
