George Clooney Incessantly Asked About Baby Plans With Wife Amal, But Is It Really Our Business?

Does he or doesn’t he? That’s the question everyone interested in George Clooney and wife Amal Alamuddin’s private sex life and baby plans is asking — incessantly.

It all started when a German newspaper, Bild, reported that he and his wife wanted to have kids, but were taking their time doing so. Reuters even repeated the story. However, his rep has officially dubbed it balderdash.

“[It’s] a made up story,” Clooney’s publicist told Yahoo! News. He claims that the reporter never asked the actor if he wanted kids.

Clooney and Alamuddin’s baby plans have been the main topic of conversation in many interviews of late. And each time, George has dodged the question, implying that whether or not his wife plan to have children, such details are really not the public’s business.

But the questions kept a-coming.

Charlie Rose even got in on it. During a sit down with him about his latest film, Tomorrowland, Rose probed as deep as he could into the actor’s baby’s plans, pointing at his closeness with his parents and siblings as apparent proof that family important enough to him to create his own.

Clooney didn’t really answer, E! Online reported.

“I mean, I’ve thought about it, I suppose. But I haven’t really—it hasn’t been high on my list of… I’ve been asked it a lot lately because I’ve gotten married and I’m doing a movie with kids in it…”

Around Mother’s Day, the Daily Mail pressed the question to Clooney, as well. He wasn’t surprised to be asked once again, commending the reporter on her cleverness in crafting the common question.

“You went the ‘You know, you have a mother and most of us have mothers and wouldn’t you like to be a father?’ Thank you for asking.”

All this evasion isn’t a shock, because it’s an incredibly personal question to ask anyone, no less a high-powered celebrity and his accomplished wife. The media, and celebrity watchers, apparently seem entitled to celebrity’s baby plans as if they were a member of the family.

And, as some press have suggested, the world apparently needs George and Amal to procreate. After all, they’re both intelligent, gorgeous, cultured, and socially conscious. Wouldn’t the planet be better off with their genes populating the Earth?

Well, if this power couple does, in fact, have baby plans at all, they’re not sharing — and truthfully, it’s no one’s business. For now, he’s only revealing hints about married life to the press but not spilling the beans on anything more serious.

In an interview with News.com.au last month, he praised his wife’s intelligence and modesty, noting “we don’t disagree on many things so far … And since she’s smarter than me, the only way we resolve anything is by arm wrestling. That is my only chance of winning anything with her because if it’s an intellectual battle, I would lose.”

Wise man. When asked later, in the same interview, if he had any baby plans, Clooney played the clueless husband again: “I have actually no idea about that.”

But if he did have designs to procreate, he seems fairly optimistic about the prospect. Tomorrrowland taught him that lesson, E! Online added.

“What I loved about the film was that it reminds (me) that young people are not born and start out their lives cynical or angry or bigoted. (We) have to be taught all of those things. I watch the world now and think, ‘Well, I see really good signs from young people out there and I feel as if the world will get better.’ “
