Tensions Rising With ‘GTA V’ Sequel ‘GTA 6’ Rumors: Release Date, Characters, And A Whole New Level Of Gangster with 45 Years’ Worth Of Ideas

It has been years now since Grand Theft Auto V (GTA V) was released and hit the whole world with a huge bang, and GTA fans the world over are starting to wonder if a successor is on its way. With franchises as big as GTA, rumors will find a way to creep out no matter how mum Rockstar is with its best-selling franchise.

Rockstar, developer for the GTA franchise, broke the tension and finally put out a word or two about the anticipated sequel to GTA V. Rockstar North president Leslie Benzies commented some time ago on how much work they have already put in the upcoming GTA 6.

We’ve got about 45 years worth of ideas we want to do. We don’t know what GTA 6 will be, but we’ve got some ideas.”

The GTA franchise has indeed been around for quite some time now and with each title getting better and badder, it’s making GTA fans restless and anticipating for GTA 6. But Benzies is emphasizing how much work they are putting on conceptualizing each title, making it very difficult for them to confirm details about GTA 6 sooner than 2016 or 2017. He reveals that they had primarily considered a trio of characters for the earlier GTA: San Andreas, tying three of its cities, but it was too early for the technology at that moment so it didn’t come through.

…it didn’t work from a tech point of view because the three characters need three times as much memory, three types of animation, and so on.”

But of course, technology is a funny thing, because their dream soon translated into reality. The power of the third generation consoles made that dream possible and GTA V was born.

And while Christian Today reports that Rockstar can only confirm the development of GTA 6, fans are already throwing out a couple of things around, speculating and juggling rumors about the awaited GTA V sequel.

With GTA V a whole lot bigger than most GTA fans would have anticipated, it is only logical to assume that GTA 6 will be a whole new level of gangster. Reports are speculating that GTA 6 will be breaking out of the chains of Los Santos or Blaine County, and will be exploring bigger US cities like Chicago or Texas. There has also been word that London could be explored by the franchise, since Rockstar’s Dan Houser has dropped some serious comment about the location two years ago.

Master Herald reports that Houser commented on how much London, as a setting for GTA, holds so much potential, because of the plentiful stories of the place, the great environment, and the gameplay mechanics that could be unique to a UK setting.

But of course, everyone would agree that GTA has been so American it seems like it’s tailor-fit to American states and culture. But in Benzies’ words, the setting is always the first question. And while it is still on its development stage, we can only continue to speculate.

It comes from the idea first. Where is it going to be set is the first question. Then that defines the missions; you’re doing different things in LA than in New York or Miami. The map and story get worked up together, and the story is a basic flow of how it works out so you can layer the missions in.”

On another news, VC Postreports that there are rumors leaking out regarding a certain Hollywood character coming to the GTA franchise.

Rumors are coming out that actor Ryan Gosling has been set to play a part on the upcoming GTA 6. While Realty Today reports that Gosling has agreed to do the part of GTA 6’s protagonist, still, we should take all claims as of now with salt.

Now that GTA fans are no longer waiting for any huge GTA V releases, aside of course from the GTA Online Heist DLC, it is only logical that the clamor for GTA 6 will only get louder from here on. 2016 can’t come soon enough for the GTA franchise.
