‘Destiny’ Treasure Keys, Other Issues Being Investigated By Bungie

The Treasure Keys that drop from the “Pack of Wolves” events in Destiny have not exactly been kind to Guardians so far. PlayStation and Xbox owners may see those drop more frequently in an upcoming update to the game, along with other issues.

Community Manager David “Deej” Dague provided the update on Treasure Keys and other issues in the Bungie weekly update. The “Live Team” responsible for the existing game world are investigating a list of issues from items not dropping to disconnects.

  • #Olive error codes and other Crucible disconnects (see above)
  • Mercury Emblems that don’t appear in inventories
  • Treasure Key famine, and the farmers who need relief
  • Ammo synthesis that piles up in your inventories
  • Quests, Ships, or Shaders not being granted by Prison of Elders
  • Encounters with known Prison inmate bosses

The “Treasure Key famine” is real, as members of the Destiny community know. My own personal experience is just one key to open the chest at the end of Prison of Elders in approximately three dozen openings of an Ether Chest. It’s unclear if the current loot drop rate was intentional or not, but the infamous Random Number Generator (RNG) that generates much of the game’s loot is the likely culprit.

The same can’t be said for the Mercury Emblem that is supposed to be a reward for those that open the Mercury Chest in the Lighthouse on Venus after going 9-0 in Trials of Osiris. If you do happen to be skilled and fortunate enough to achieve that goal, make sure you have a free emblem slot in your inventory to ensure that you do receive the Exotic emblem.

The issue with Special Weapon Ammon Synths is a growing concern, as well. Players are quickly discovering that these are dropping in-game more frequently than they can spend them. This is made worse by the fact that synths cannot be discarded. So, they load up player’s inventory or their vault.

Destiny players can also look forward to a new Iron Banner next Tuesday. There are a number of changes coming to it as well, thanks to it being the first event following the release of “House of Wolves.” The most important change is that Etheric Light will be available to purchase once players reach reputation rank 3 and rank 5.
