WWE News: Huge Change To ‘Elimination Chamber,’ Bray Wyatt To Replace Rusev?

Injuries have rocked the WWE for weeks now. Starting with WWE NXT, Hideo Itami and Sami Zayn recently underwent surgeries for their respective shoulders. Both were written off WWE television at NXT Takeover: Unstoppable. Itami was attacked in the parking lot during the pre-show for NXT Takeover. As for Zayn, Kevin Owens laid him out once again and finally took him out.

Unfortunately, the injury bug transitioned to the WWE’s main roster. Earlier this week, Rusev sustained a lower-body injury, which the WWE confirmed on its website. That being said, the diagnosis hasn’t been announced yet. Rusev could’ve suffered a strain or sprain. Worst case scenario, the wheelchair in the picture dictated a fracture.

Rusev was scheduled to be in the chamber match at the Elimination Chamber for the Intercontinental championship. However, if the injury is too severe, Rusev will need to be replaced. There are the obvious candidates, but one stands out in particular.

According to Daily Wrestling News, a familiar face to the WWE is looking to replace Rusev at the Elimination Chamber.

“Other sources have said that Rusev was trying to downplay the injury late Tuesday night and telling people that he was okay.

“Rusev is scheduled to work the Elimination Chamber for the vacant WWE Intercontinental Title on Sunday but there was talk that he may be replaced by Bray Wyatt if he’s not cleared to wrestle.”

Bray Wyatt is the perfect candidate to replace Rusev if that is the case. Hopefully, Rusev isn’t injured because the feud with Lana and Dolph Ziggler would immediately end. That derails the progress Rusev has made as a heel without Lana, as well as Lana’s progress as an ultimate babyface. The thing is, Wyatt is ready to compete in the Elimination Chamber.

He’s going to stay by himself, which will let him grow as a competitor. Despite Sheamus and Bad News Barrett, Wyatt would have the best chance to win the Intercontinental championship. Unfortunately, fan-favorite Dolph Ziggler has no chance at securing another Intercontinental title.

Sticking with Bray Wyatt, he’s been working with Roman Reigns at WWE live events. If this is the next feud for Wyatt, that would mean the two wouldn’t compete in the Money in the Bank ladder match. Narrowing down the pool for the Money in the Bank briefcase holder, that leaves Dean Ambrose and Dolph Ziggler. The WWE has plenty of options, but if the injuries continue to pile up, more problems will arise.
