Is Chris Pine about to star in the Wonder Woman film? The star is already leading off one powerful franchise thanks to J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek, but according to the Hollywood Reporter the star is currently in negotiations to star alongside Wonder Woman herself, Gal Gadot.
Insiders from the Hollywood Reporter reported that Chris Pine is being considered for the role of Steve Trevor, who is a big love interest of Wonder Woman’s. Warner Bros nor Pine’s reps have commented, but this is a fairly typical practice given that Chris is under negotiations right now.
That said, it looks promising that Chris Pine would be the man to beat out for the role. He’s already a part of a huge franchise, and we know he can pull in the box office bank, so in the eyes of Warner Bros that’s a powerful thing to have in a superhero film.
According to A.V. Club, Steve Trevor is “Usually depicted as a generic Army guy who finds himself washed up/crash landed on Paradise Island/Themyscira. There he meets Diana, a wonderful woman who decides to leave her home and tie up criminals with a lasso as the heroic Wonder Woman.”
Back in March, Gal Gadot spoke about becoming Wonder Woman for the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice film. “She has unbelievable endurance. She is exceptionally strong. She can jump really high and practically fly. She knows tons of martial arts styles. She is a strong and serious woman.”
As far as people criticizing her that she doesn’t have the right body, she told IGN, “When I was younger I could take criticism really hard. But now it mostly amuses me. The true Amazons had one boob so it won’t bother them in their archery. So it’s not going to be like real Amazons. We always try to make everyone happy but we can’t.”
As of right now we definitely know that the Wonder Woman film will be directed by Monster’s Patty Jenkins, with a 2017 release being eyed.
So far the Internet seems to be pretty happy about Chris Pine’s possible inclusion in the Wonder Woman film.

@Variety I’m sure a lot of studios and women would like to lasso Chris Pine.
