Taylor Swift To Be Honored By Michelle Obama At Kids Choice Awards

Winning a Kids Choice Award is an honor because it shows artists that they are respected by a younger generation that will likely follow their careers into adulthood. What might be even cooler than winning an award however is receiving your honor from First Lady Michelle Obama.

That’s what will happen this weekend when 22-year-old singer-songwriter Taylor Swift is recognized by the events organizers for her philanthropic work.

First Lady Michelle Obama will present Taylor Swift with the Big Help Awards at the Kids Choice Awards which airs on Nickelodeon this Saturday at 8 p.m.

Swift is receiving the Big Help award for her work with various events and organizations including her assistance for U.S. tornado and flood survivors, her volunteering work with Make-A-Wish Foundation, her sponsorship of St. Jude Medical Center and her work with home building agency Habitat for Humanity.

Despite the typical trappings of fame Taylor Swift has managed to avoid the pitfalls of young celebrity and is rarely seen partying it up with friends at nightclub hotspots into the early morning hours, preferring instead a quite home life and extremely busy work schedule that has included non-stop touring around the world.

Appearing at the Kids’ Choice Awards is nothing new for Michelle Obama, she was honored for the same Big Help award in 2010 thanks to her work on the Let’s Move! campaign.

In any case Michelle Obama showing up to give Taylor Swift an award shows exactly how big of an event the Kids Choice Awards have become over the years. It might be for kids but it manages to bring in some pretty big names.
