#HoustonFlood Trends On Twitter With Flood Photos, Videos Around The Houston Area [Videos]


The flooding in Houston, Texas, and nearby areas has put seven states at risk, reports NBC News. The Houston floods have also left at least 80,000 people with no electricity as the flood waters stranded motorists on the roads and caused lakes to appear in backyards out of nowhere.

Videos of the Houston flood on Twitter show folks trying to get out of the floodwaters, whilst others use the opportunity to have some fun by towing folks in a boat behind a pick-up truck.

According to Twitter, the hashtag #HoustonFlood has caused nearly 20,000 tweets to flow into their social media platform, with users sharing photos and videos of flooded streets and highways.

The floods stranded hundreds on Houston roadways, reports KHOU? – and photos from Twitter back up that report.

Many of Houston roads couldn’t be passed as the floodwaters rose to unprecedented levels, reports USA TODAY.

The term “Austin flood” was a related trending search term on Twitter.

The term #houstonflood school is trending as well, with folks searching for school closing information.

Another term, #houstonflood White Bayou, proved folks were searching for specific flooding information by area.

Allen Parkway was also a cause of concern for flooding.

News about Sugar Land, Texas, appeared on Twitter when a photo of dogs swimming in the flood waters was posted online.

As reported by the Inquisitr, the Houston Rockets were able to fight away elimination in Game 4 against the Golden State Warriors. Some fans were stranded at the Toyota Center after the game.
