iPhone 5 Films Its Slow Descent To Ocean Floor After Owner Throws It Overboard [Video]

For a couple of brothers out to sea on a boat, things went horribly wrong when one threw the other their iPhone 5. Gregory Papadin, from San Diego, jumped into the ocean, off the side of a boat with his iPhone 5 encased in nothing but a Lifeproof case, recording the whole thing. Once there he decided to throw his iPhone back to his brother who was still on the boat. While still recording, the phone flew through the air but landed short.

As a result of this, the iPhone 5 gracefully descended to the bottom of the ocean while its owner watched from above. In the video below, you can see the whole exciting journey the iPhone took from boat jump to ocean descent to retrieval and then its safe return to the surface. Both brothers were amazed to find the iPhone 5 still recording its eventful but short journey.

While neither Gregory or his brother could cope with the water pressure in their attempts to retrieve the fallen iPhone 5, the owner of the boat jumped to the rescue, eventually diving down and retrieving the iPhone 5.

“My brother tried throwing my phone to me in the ocean, it ended up going straight under water and sank to bottom of the ocean floor. Luckily, it ended with the camera up and recorded the whole thing. The underwater pressure was too much for both my brother and I to swim and get it, but the owner of the boat we rented was able to reduce the pressure using a special breathing method meant for diving (equalization). He was able to retrieve it, and my phone managed to survive the whole ordeal!”

At first you can see the iPhone 5 owner trying desperately to retrieve his phone as it falls quickly through the water but then everything quiets down. The iPhone rocks from side to side in its descent to the watery depths, capturing seaweed and fish as it goes. Eventually the iPhone 5 stops in the sand and there is a delay until help arrives to rescue it. Viewers can see the boat owner as he swims down to retrieve the iPhone 5 and then as he returns to the surface. All are amazed to find the phone still recording its adventure.

Some people claim this video may be just a fake with one YouTube viewer pointing out what could be either hair or seaweed present around the :56 mark (although it does look more like seaweed than hair). However, even if it is a fake video, it is still beautiful to watch as well as an excellent advertisement for Lifeproof iPhone 5 covers!
