If Taylor Swifts Calls The Teacher, Students Won’t Have To Take Final Exam
If Taylor Swift calls the world history teacher at Skyview High School in Billings, Montana, students will not have to take a final examination, according to ABC Eyewitness News.
Colter Pierce told his student he would cancel the final exam for them if Taylor Swift called him. The students took a photo of the contract that was printed on the chalkboard. They posted it on Twitter. The contract has gone viral, which is what the students wanted. They are hoping the “Bad Blood” singer would see it and respond.
KTVQ reported that the teacher said all semester he has been talking about the iconic singer. He admitted he has a celebrity crush on the “Shake It Off” singer.
One of the students came up with the idea. Sophomore Ike Stoner said he meant it as a joke. Before posting the 13-word message on Twitter, Ike got permission from school officials. After school officials agreed to the experiment, Ike posted it on Twitter, and classmate Ashton Jaymes Goodell put it on his Facebook page, where the post went viral.
“It got out of hand fast. It escalated quickly. The post got tens of thousands of shares, and it reached the rate of one share every minute.”
The final exam isn’t scheduled for another couple of weeks, so Swift still might call. Even if she does call, Pierce will administer some sort of exam to test the knowledge of students, but it will be much easier so he can honor the contract which school officials agreed to.
Pierce rationalizes that history is happening in his class with students experiencing the age of social media. The history teacher said he’s been impressed with his students’ excitement about the experiment. He also said it is not taking away from classroom learning.
“It’s not so much trying to get these kids out of their final as it is seeing that celebrities are still normal, down to earth people. And I think that’s the biggest driving force behind it.”
Goodall did say what a lot of other people are thinking.
“I think if Taylor Swift called, everyone’s going to go and try to get a celebrity’s attention. Everybody wants to meet a celebrity. Taylor Swift? That’d be pretty crazy.”
The post had been shared thousands of times, but so far, Taylor Swift hasn’t called.
