Anderson Silva Vs. Chael Sonnen: UFC 147 Set For June In Brazil

The UFC is heading back to Brazil. Anderson Silva and Chael Sonnen will step into the ring once again to fight for the UFC middleweight belt.

Yahoo reports that the last time Silva and Sonnen met in the ring, Silva walked away with the win after forcing Sonnen to submit. Animosity has been brewing between the two and UFC president Dana White promises that the rematch will be epic.

White said:

“This will be the biggest sporting event of the year. Bigger than the NFL, the NBA, you name it – UFC 147 will be the biggest. The whole world wants to see this fight between Silva and Sonnen. We are broadcast in over 150 countries in 22 languages in half a billion homes. Wherever those fans are, they are going to be watching this fight.”

The fight will be held at Joao Havelange Stadium (also known as Engenhao Stadium). It will be the first time that a UFC fight has been held at a soccer stadium. MMA Junkie reports that the UFC is hoping to break its 55,000 person attendance record which was set at UFC 129 in Toronto.

Belfort and Wanderlei Silva are also slated to fight at UFC 147.

Are you a fan of UFC? Do you think Anderson Silva will be able to bring down Chael Sonnen again?
