Will ‘Game Of Thrones’ Kill Margaery Tyrell In Season Five?

This week’s episode of Game of Thrones saw Margaery Tyrell finally hurl some anger towards her mother-in-law. In front of others, and especially Cersei, she has played the kind-hearted, mild-tempered queen but behind closed doors she is quick to cause offense. That is just what she did this week, finally calling Cersei a “hateful b***h” while in her prison cell.

It is clearly setting up the storyline for Cersei’s downfall. That is supposed to come sometime in season five of Game of Thrones, but many have questioned whether Margaery’s downfall will come soon. Will the show runners kill off another character that was supposed to still be alive in the books?

Anything is possible. This season of Game of Thrones gets the show to the end of A Feast for Crows, and Margaery is still alive in that. According to Bustle, Cersei’s downfall weakens the evidence against Margaery and she goes home to her family, but is awaiting trial. However, the charges against Margaery in the books are very different to the charges in the show. The book charges are very similar to Anne Boleyn’s charges, while in the show she is charged with giving false testimony.

International Business Times reminds readers that the Tyrells have a powerful person on their side; Olenna Tyrell, and fans of the show have already seen what she will do to protect her family. It is possible that she will play a part in Cersei’s downfall, which will hopefully help her get her grandchildren off their current charges. The one that will be harder to get free is Loras Tyrell. The publication goes on to say that Olenna has people in her debt, and they will help her in her time of need.

That could mean that Margaery will be spared a death sentence. It is now getting to the point where book fans are unsure how Game of Thrones will continue. The sixth book is still nowhere near release, and the show is bound to overtake. It may explain why there have been some major changes to season five compared to the books. This will allow George R.R. Martin to continue his storyline without the showrunners spoiling all of it for the readers.

Cersei’s walk of shame is expected to come up towards the end of the season. There are only three episodes left of Game of Thrones, and fans are looking forward to finally seeing her downfall.
